Winter Break is Coming!
Just a day and a half and we can take a collective breath and break from the daily tug. I know this goes without saying, but I want to put in my reminder to stay vigilant about supervision of students (both in the classroom and at recess) and don't let your guard down. There are so many things pulling at you both professionally and personally, but maintaining consistency in your daily routines and procedures and being prepared for your daily lessons helps students meet our academic and behavioral expectations. While this time of year is often exciting, it can be difficult for some for a variety of reasons... Some of you may be seeing the effects of that on some of your students (and maybe even your colleagues :)). The balancing act of Grace and Accountability can be challenging but it's the combination of the two that will keep us all working together in harmony!

Winter Parties and Sing Along
We are going to be starting a sing along tradition this year. A little before 2:00 on the 19th, we are going to call classes down to the gymnasium for a sing along. Each grade level will lead the others in a song (Bethany will help with the song selection). As a staff, we are also going to sing a song (or songs) for the students so get your singing voices ready!
Parents will be able to get set up for the parties at about 2:15 when we are in the gym.
More information will be provided!
January 3rd and 4th
Certified Staff -
January 3rd - We will begin at 8:30 in the media center on January 3rd. The SIP Reading Committee will be sending out more communication in the next week and a half. The afternoon is considered flex time for grade card prep.
January 4th - You should have received an email from your grade level IRT about the district symposium style training. You need to sign up on "my learning plan". This is a full day training. Please see the attachment for locations.
New Laptops are Here!
Reminder!
We received the new laptops and they are similar to your surface pros (have a keyboard, but also could be a tablet with touch screen). We are configuring them right now, but if you are wanting to use them, please let Amy know to check them out and bring to your room.
Interventions on Synergy
Reminder!
Please make sure that you are putting this on synergy when you begin and then update this when you complete it. This should be done for any behavior or academic interventions.
Visitor Check In
Reminder!
If you can do us a big favor:
If you have a person coming in to help in your classroom (senior serving schools, grandparent, mystery reader, speaker, etc,) that is not a parent at our school, please email or let Cristy, Lesley, and Andrea know.
If we don't know that they are coming, we end up having to stop them at the door and not let them in until we confirm with you...which ends up making our visitors a little testy...so if you can give us a heads up, it will go much smoother. Thanks!
Afternoon Dismissal Duty if you are Absent
Reminder!
If you have a dismissal duty:
- If you are absent (and it is something that you have planned or know in advance), please try and contact a floater or someone on your grade level to see if they can cover your duty. I am not comfortable with substitutes doing these duties because they do not know the kids, our routines, and our procedures. I understand that there are certain substitutes that are our regulars. If these people are your substitute, please feel free to use them for these roles. Thank you!
