HERITAGE HAPPENINGS
The FIRST Robotics season is well underway, but there is still time to be involved. We have 5 weeks before our first FIRST competition, If you know of any students or staff members that may be interested, have them show up to a meeting. We meet in room 309 Mondays & Wednesdays at 6:30 pm & Saturday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Our first competition is at Mt Pleasant High School on March 8-9 with setup on Friday the 7th. The second competition is at Midland HH Dow High on March 28-29, with setup on Thursday the 27th.
Student Assembly is hosting a can drive next Monday (the day after the Superbowl) to offset the cost of our state conference. Use the QR code to fill out a form if you have cans that they could pick up for you.
Interested in Healthcare? The Health Science Talent Tour Field Trip is coming up on Thursday, March 6. Don't miss out on this great opportunity! We will tour four local hospitals, listen to panels of healthcare professionals, and meet briefly with schools and training facilities for medical pathway information. Plan to get career information on how to best attain your health career goals. Permission slips can be picked up and returned to the counseling office. The first 40 slips returned will get to attend.
Mark your calendars for the 29th Annual Hawktion, Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Horizon's Conference Center. Proceeds go towards scholarships, equipment and other team necessities for our high school athletics. Sponsorships are available and Goods & Services Donations accepted. Please see attached flyer below for more information.
Registration is now open for the BUILD LIKE A GIRL event happening on Wednesday, February 19th in Midland.
This event allows girls to try construction based hands-on activities, along with hearing challenges and successes from women in the industry. Registration is limited to 200 students, so early registration is recommended.
Michigan Tech Summer Youth Program Catalog is now available. You can choose from a number of courses. They offer scholarships for financial assistance.
After School Tutoring:
When: 3:05 pm - 4:05 pm.
Where: Wednesdays in Room 318 and Thursdays Room 215.
Core Subjects - Science, Math, English, Social Studies.

New Heritage High School Athletic Director!
After an extensive search, we are thrilled to announce that we have found the perfect candidate to lead our athletic program. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Bill Chaltraw, the new Heritage High School Athletic Director!
Bill is a dedicated educator with over 20 years of teaching experience, a committed coach within our district, a proud Heritage alumnus, and a Heritage parent. His deep roots in our community and passion for athletics make him an outstanding choice to guide our student-athletes and programs forward.
Welcome Coach Malik Smith – Our New Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach!
Heritage Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Malik Smith as our new Varsity Girls Soccer Head Coach!
Originally from London, England, Coach Smith brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our program. A former NCAA Division II athlete, he also played at the professional academy and semi-professional levels in England.
Beyond his playing career, Coach Smith has dedicated himself to developing athletes both locally and at the collegiate level. He currently serves as the Head Coach for DCFC U14’s in Saginaw Township and leads the SVSU Men’s Midwest Alliance Soccer Conference Team in the fall.
We are thrilled to welcome Coach Smith to the Hawks family and look forward to the leadership and experience he will bring to our program!

A FEW ITEMS TO REMEMBER
Attendance Time-Saver Tips for student leaving during school time:
◾For a scheduled appointment for your student, send a note. Include on the note: DATE, TIME LEAVING SCHOOL, & PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGNATURE. The student will take the note to the Attendance Office or C Doors and will receive a pass. When it is time to leave, the student will take the pass to the Attendance Office or C Doors and then leave school grounds. Email note to attendhhs@stcs.org or fax note to 989-797-1811.
◾ For unscheduled student pick-up, you will need to show your ID to the Reception Window C Doors, and you will sign out your student. Your student WILL NOT be called down to the attendance office ahead of time.
When dropping your students off or picking them up to follow the directional signs in the lots.
South Lot (located closest to Shattuck Road, Street name Heritage):
RIGHT LANE ONLY used to Drop/Pick –Up students.
LEFT LANE ONLY used for continuous traffic flow. For safety of students and staff, DO NOT Drop/Pick-Up in this lane.
DO NOT use the small parking lot to Drop/Pick-up students, this is a safety issue.
North Lot (Street name Hawk):
Follow along the outside of the lot.
Please do not cut through the lot for the safety of the students and staff that are exiting vehicles and walking into school. Please watch for people crossing.
After school Reminder to Students and Families: At the completion of classes each day, students are required to be out of the building by 3:00 pm. Students wanting to attend an evening activity or practice MUST leave the building and may return at the of the time of the event or practice. Exceptions include students that are under the direct supervision of a teacher, coach, administrator, etc. (such as: tutoring, practice, or a school sponsored event).
Heritage School Doors will be unlocked at 7:15 am and relocks at 7:40 am for the start of school. Students MUST leave the building right after school is dismissed.
Students must wear their student ID at all times and student planners are required when leaving the classroom.
Students are not permitted to bring in or order outside food and drinks (does not apply to students bringing their own lunch from home). The school will not accept unauthorized delivers for food or drinks, and you will still be held responsible for the cost of the order.
Heritage High School does not accept balloons, candy, flowers or other items delivered to the school for students.
Address Change – Have you moved or are you planning on moving? You will need to update your address with the Counseling Office. To do this, you will need to provide two proofs of residency. Examples of one acceptable proof of residency are: lease or mortgage agreements, utility bills (electric, cable, water, gas, etc.), property tax notice, homeowners or renters insurance certificate, with your address on it. The second proof is driver’s license or state ID. All proofs need to be current (within 30 days). We also have a Residency Affidavit we will have you fill out.
Junior and Senior Males are legally required to register for Selective Service at www.SSS.gov within 30 days of their 18th birthday. You may register as soon as you turn 17 years old and 3 months. The registration process is less than one minute but saves you from severe consequences including being ineligible for federal college loans and grants. Register today!
Mailbox Reminder – The US Post Office delivers mail to occupants based on last name of individuals. They may choose to not deliver mail if the last name is not on the mailbox. It is important all family’s last names are listed as recipients of mail to the address. Leave a note in the mailbox listing all the last names to receive mail at the address. This will ensure all STCS mail is delivered to the address and will avoid having to verify the address when mail is returned.
Heritage High School has implemented a structure to support students in need. This Multi-Tiered System of Support is an evidence-based, system-wide practice to help ensure that every student achieves to high standards. If you feel that your student could use extra support because they are struggling academically, behaviorally, socially, etc... please contact your student’s counselor for more information.
