"We will all profit from a more diverse, inclusive society, understanding, accommodating, even celebrating our differences, while pulling together for the common good" -Ruth Bader Ginsburg
I want to thank everyone who helped make our 26th Annual CISL Conference a success in March! This conference would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our incredible parent booster committee and our student leadership team! I hope that everyone who joined us for that day had an incredible time.
I also am delighted to report that we have worked to reassure one of our oldest and most important exchanges with our sister school Verona, Italy! This year Mrs. Maddox, Mr. Troyer, and I escorted 12 incredible Hylton students to Verona where they stayed with Italian host families. Didn't get to go on our trip? That's okay we'll have the opportunity to travel again there soon! And in the meantime consider the possibility of hosting a visiting Italian student! Italian students will be coming to Hylton from April 16-April 25th, 2024. More information to come but we are looking for CISL students and families who want to host an incredible student to learn and share cultures!
We are also thrilled to be starting up Hylton's I-Night or International Night again! I-Night will be on Thursday April 18th from 6:00-9:00 and we are looking for performers, individuals to bring cultural dishes, and individuals who want to wear and display cultural dress in our fashion show! See below for more information and a way to register to participate. This is also a great way to earn last minute CISL points! I'm looking at you seniors ;)!
This month we're moving our CISL General meeting to Thursday, April 25th .
If you have questions please let me know!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Terenchin

Upcoming CISL Events
Host an Italian Student
We have Italian students visiting us this fall from April 16th-25th. They'll be here for the I-Night and more!
To qualify to host you just have to have a bed in a separate bedroom or in the same-gender bedroom of a student, the ability to feed them 3 meals a day, provide some transportation to and from Hylton for a few days and have a willingness to show another student around Hylton and PWC as they shadow you and learn more about our school system and more!!!
You don't need to speak Italian in order to host, all of the students on this exchange have studied English for years! They are eager to practice their English and to experience all that the U.S. has to offer.
You can earn up to 20 CISL points by hosting an Exchange Student from Italy for 9 days!

This event brings the entire community together to celebrate the diversity of our Hylton community and the human experience allowing us to showcase culture, food, and performances! We are looking for students, parents, and community members to put on cultural performances, for individuals to bring cultural dishes to share, for individuals to set up table displays with posters & tri-fold boards, and individuals who want to participate in our international night fashion show! We are also looking for volunteers to help us staff this event.
