Pre-K is busy learning and creating! Our math skills show in our hand-made ornaments, which are full of shapes and patterns! We have been engineers and building shelters and furniture for elves and reindeer as well as using our imaginations and career skills in the bakery! Holiday magic happened when we planted candy cane seeds and they grew!

π Did You Know π
π¨Letter from the Counseling Office
Dear Families,
K, 1st, and 2nd grade -
Our social-emotional lesson in November included identifying feelings in ourselves and others. We thought about our sensations (how we feel feelings inside our bodies). Our second lesson surrounded coping strategies to handle uncomfortable feelings when they occur. Students learned about taking deep breaths, muscle relaxation, grounding, journaling, and more!
Questions to engage your child around this learning topic:
What makes you feel β¦. (happy, sad, mad, etc.).
Is being (happy, sad, mad) a comfortable or uncomfortable feeling?
How many different feelings can you name?
In December we learned about the size of the problem and how to solve different problems. Whether the problem is Big, Medium, or Small, we know how to solve it!
Questions to engage your child around this learning topic:
What size problem would it be if your brother/sister/cousin/classmate took a toy away from you while you were playing? (Small)
What could you do to solve this problem? (ask for it back, make a plan to let them play with it later, share the toy and play together)
4PK -
Our social-emotional lessons in November included problem solving and fair ways to play. Students practiced saying the problem and thinking of solutions. Then students practiced playing fairly either by sharing, trading toys, or taking turns with the toys. At home, engage your child in play to practice these skills. In December, our social emotional lesson was joining into play. Students practiced asking classmates if they could play with them. The first step is to move closer, then watch how the kids are playing, and finally, they ask βCan I play with you?β.

Dismissal

- D-H at the back playground door
- I-Q at the first door on the left in the driveway between the HS & PS

All 3PK AM and PM students will exit at the side door at 11:30 for the AM program and 3:00 for the PM program. Our 3PK students are dropped off and picked up in the small Primary Bus Loop during the following times: 8:45-9:00, 11:20-11:35, 12:20-12:30, and 2:50-3:05. Please consider parking in a different location so that you aren't trapped in the loop.
βTardy Arrival (after 8:00am)
If your child arrives at school after 8:00am, he/she is considered tardy. Please walk your child into the school main entrance to complete an excuse. Then staff will give your child a tardy pass and he/she can walk to class independently. Please note this is a change in practice in order to ensure student safety in the parking lot and to keep accurate attendance records.

Please note that this year our 4PK students have a different menu than our K-2nd grade students.
