Co-Lab Door
Every time we practice our emergency drills we realize different ways we could be more prepared as a school. During our Hard/Soft Lockdown drills this past Friday, we realized an Allen Wrench/Hex Key is needed to lock the Co-Lab door from the inside. Since this is not something that most people have on their key ring, we are going to hang a key that will lock the Co-Lab door next to the fire extinguisher directly next to the entrance door into the Co-Lab. Please take some time to to check it out and make sure you are able to lock the door. You don't want your first time using to be in an emergency situation. Please see Tracy or Brian if you need any assistance.

Instructional Aide Schedule
ROE Building Inspection- Monday (9/23)
The ROE will be conducting their annual walkthrough on Monday, September 23rd. Mr. Gronski, our Director of Operations, has shared the following:
1. “Daisy chains” of electrical cords (extension cords plugged into extension cords). Also, no teacher should have extension cords they brought in from home. ALL EXTENSION CORDS MUST BE COMMERCIAL GRADE. Surge protector power strips can be used but they must be plugged directly into a wall and no extension cords can be used off of a surge protector. The ROE always nails someone on this so I would appreciate it if all buildings can start seeing who is using extension cords and make sure they are in compliance.
2. Storage shelves. Need AT LEAST 24 INCHES to the ceiling. 18 inches in a sprinklered room. Please check all storage shelves and remove items on top shelves as needed for the walkthrough.
3. Chemicals and flammable materials must be stored in locked cabinets that are clearly labeled.
4. Classroom doors that have vision panels must be uncovered. THE ROE NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO SEE INTO A CLASSROOM FROM THE HALLWAY.
5. NO DOORSTOPS. NO DOOR MAGNETS. Teachers should not have door magnets anymore, all classroom door locks have been replaced that allow teachers the ability to lock doors from inside the classroom.
6. No hand sanitizers mounted on walls in carpeted areas. This is a fire hazard and not allowed.
7. Decorations hanging from the ceiling are highly frowned upon by the ROE, this includes hallways. Please take these down the day of the inspection.
8. Emergency procedures posted in all classrooms, all emergency/exit lights working properly.
9. No lit candles, air-freshener plug ins, or wax burners.
10. All exits need to be clear of any obstacles. Also, areas in front of electrical breaker boxes need to be clear, this includes janitor closets and boiler rooms.
11. Decorative lights in classrooms, “decorative light strands are fine as long as they are not hung with tacks or other objects that could pierce the cord.” This is what we were told last year by the ROE.
My personal preference would be to have these removed the day of the inspection but if that is not possible please check on these and inspect how they are being hung. Also, if there are decorative lights make sure there are no extension cord daisy chains present.
12. Ceiling tiles. Make sure there are no missing ceiling tiles in closets, locker rooms, or storage spaces.
13. Outlet covers, empty wire boxes on walls, ceilings etc. Just make sure all of these are covered, shouldn’t see any loose wires, etc.
14. Occupancy signs posted in cafeterias, gymnasiums, collaboration labs, etc.
