Friday will be a fun and long day as we head AWAY to Hebron High School. Below are items you will need for inspection, along with the Friday after school schedule.

WIND ENSEMBLE
Incredible 1st Football Game! I'm so proud of you all.
Extended Rehearsals start this week.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Dismissed at 12:55 pm (5th period doesn't start until 1:40, so you have plenty of time to eat)
- If you have another school-sponsored activity that happens during that time, you will need to let me know of the conflict AT LEAST 24 hours in advance. Often, I can help find a solution for you to participate in both things.

JAZZ BAND
- Your region jazz audition will be on September 21st in the early evening at Lovejoy High School.
- NEW- recordings of the first half of your etudes will be due this week by Sunday, September 4th. Criteria is right notes and rhythms at your current tempo. More details will be on your Google Classroom.
- PARENTS- We are looking for volunteers to help with some logistics for our April 15th Jazz Band Swing Dance! Email stephen.lisko@wylieisd.net if you would like to help out. Many thanks to Sharon Brannick, who is our first volunteer!

Music goals during class and outside of class time:
- Learn and memorize all 4 parts of the competition show.
- Learn and memorize all 9 cadences with mark time.
- Learn all of our stand tunes.
- Learn the 4 all-region etudes.

Mega-Lunch is a great time to get work done. If you need to find some study/homework time or practice time, I suggest using some of your lunch period to help you be more successful.
COLOR GUARD
- Monday will start MOVEMENT MONDAYS - be ready to DANCE. If that means a change of clothes, bring a change of clothes. No equipment in class
- First AWAY game Friday! Remember to pack as much as you can AHEAD of time

TWB GRADING
It is our belief that anything that involves a skill requires daily practice to master. We are aiming for mastery in music. This is a process, so ALL skill grades or major music assignments may be resubmitted for a higher grade at any point within the 3, 6, or 9 week grading period.
PE Marching Band
Minor Grades (at least 1 per week)
- Weekly participation grade based on your daily participation
- Skills grade (marching skills are assessed biweekly for mastery)
Major Grades (at least 1 per 3 week period)
- Marching Band Performances
Band/Guard/Percussion Classes

SERVICE AWARD
Camaraderie Level of Service 10-30 points | Excellence in Service 40+ Points
- Work 4 hours of service- Sports Concessions Stands (typically 2 hours per game), Contest or Concert setup/hosting at designated JH/HS band event. Each hour of service is worth 10 points. You may work more than 4 hours, however no more than 40 points can be obtained towards a letter jacket.
- Participate in all Band Contests during the year.
- No absence from any performance unless excused by the Band Director prior to the performance.
Note: Due to the increasing numbers of Band students wishing to letter each year, the Band Director may establish alternative means of meeting the Service requirements. Those students who cannot work in the concession stand on Tuesday or Thursday nights should check with the Band Director during football season to obtain alternate Service credit.
