Happy May.

It is always and exciting and busy time at the end of the school year.

Everyone's energy is up and Spring is in the air. This can be a wonderful time but can also increase student misunderstandings. This is primarily from social media comments and interactions outside of school. Often students, siblings, or friends will say or write things that they never would in school or in person. Please consider limiting your elementary age students access to social media apps. They are still building the social emotional skills to understand social media. If they are using it, I recommend monitoring their use closely. Thank you.

We will be starting state standardized testing for 3rd to 5th grade students next week. We want to keep a calm and focused learning environment for all of our students so that they can demonstrate their strong academic skills. Students will do their best when they are well rested, eat well and are avoiding distractions. We appreciate the support of the entire community to help the students perform at their personal best. It is exciting to see the growth and the pay off of the students' and teachers' hard work.

Below is the testing schedule plan.

Beginning Monday May 6th first grade students will stay with their homeroom teacher for all instruction. With the increased activities planned for the end of the year, we want to limit transitions and help students to prepare for second grade. Second grade will not be departmentalized. The first grade team has sent home a news letter with the students explaining this change. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
