Fourth Quarter June 2024
Message from Mrs. Jewell and Mrs. Pecora
Greetings Ridge-Brook Families,
We hope you are settling into your Summer routine. On behalf of the entire Ridge-Brook staff, we would like to thank all of our families and community members for your collaboration and commitment to our Ridge-Brook students! We have worked hard to grow our students academically and socio-emotionally. As we are ending one academic school year, we are already working and planning for the opening of the 2024-2025 school year. We wish you a summer filled with making memories with your family and look forward to seeing you at the Open House at the end of August. For those families whose children are moving on to Middle School, best wishes in navigating the next chapter in your child's life.
Don't forget to have your child read for twenty minutes every day!
Ohio State Test, OST Results (3rd and 4th grade parents) Spring test results are available to view in HAC. They can be found under the grades tab. Family Reports will be delivered from the state to the district in late summer and sent home to parents in the fall.

Have an Incoming Kindergartner and Still Need to Register Them?
We are trying to ensure we are properly preparing for the opening of school and have the correct amount of teachers needed for our students. Given that, it is critical that if you have an incoming Kindergartner and have NOT registered them yet, please do so as soon as possible so we can have adequate staffing to meet the student's needs. All you need to do is click on the below link. Feel free to call the Ridge-Brook office if you need assistance.
🎉 Look at all these kids who have received a Positive Office Referral!🏆
We are working hard to recognize the students who make great choices at school! Don't worry if you get a call from the Principal or Dean, it may be to celebrate what a great dolphin they are by demonstrating Respectful, Responsible and Ready behavior!

PBIS Information
Our students continue to earn Dolphin Dollars by being Respectful, Responsible, and Ready. Each month they have an opportunity to spend those Dolphin Dollars from our Dolphin Store. With the end of the year here, we gave students one final chance to spend their Dolphin Dollars during our PBIS Basket Raffle. Classrooms created baskets based on a theme they were given. The baskets were displayed in the display case and office. Classrooms signed up to drop off their leftover dolphin dollars in containers for a chance to win that basket. Thank you to our families and staff for all the great donations!

Write a letter to your favorite author
Design your own postcard and stamp and mail it to a friend

4th GRADE LEMONADE WARS
Our 4th graders spent some time reading the book The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies. In the book, siblings Evan and Jessie are not getting along very well. Evan is upset because his little sister Jessie will be skipping 3rd grade, meaning she will be in the same 4th grade class as him. Jessie is super smart when it comes to math, but she is not very "people smart." Evan, on the other hand, struggles in school but is very good at talking to people. Because Evan is mad at Jessie, he refuses to team up with her for a lemonade stand, which prompts her to start her own. This leads to the two creating a bet: whoever is able to make the most money with their own lemonade stand by an agreed upon date is the winner and WINNER TAKES ALL!
As a culminating activity to the book, we planned for our students to take part in their own Lemonade War! After reading the book, the 4th graders were split into groups and they started researching a charity. Students worked hard to make posters and Flipgrid videos to teach others about their charity and advertise the items being sold at their stand. On Monday, June 10th, all Ridge-Brook students, teachers, and staff members had the opportunity to come outside and shop at each group's stand. The 4th graders brought in a variety of yellow and lemon-flavored items for their customers to purchase for 50 cents each, with the understanding that all of the money raised throughout the day would go to the charity of the group that raised the most.
We are super excited to announce that we raised over $1,100 for the winning charity: the Parma Police Association! Students were able to learn the importance of working hard and giving to others while having fun! The fourth-grade team wants to thank our classroom parents for sending in items for their children to sell and being supportive of the project, and everyone that came out to shop or donated to the charities! This would not be possible without you all!

Shout Out to Our Amazing PTA
Thank you once again to our wonderful Ridge-Brook PTA team. Ridge-Brook PTA showered us with appreciation and goodies during Staff Appreciation Week in May, was an integral part of our annual Field Day, and provided a Pizza Party for every class for the PTA Coin War fundraiser. They also made the last days of school memorable for our 4th graders before moving on to Middle School by partnering with our 4th-grade teachers for their final class party. This administrative team and teacher, Ms. Collins, were "Pied" by our students!
