A Message From The Administration Team
As we reflect on recent weather events, we take this time to be thankful for our friends, families, and neighbors in our community who continue to support one another. October is a busy month here at Abner Creek, with parent conferences scheduled throughout. Please bear with us, as some dates may need to shift due to the recent inclement weather closures. Rest assured, we are committed to staying strong and working together as a community. Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.

2nd Grade Testing
All second graders in the state of South Carolina take CogAt (3 days) and IOWA (2 days). Among other things, these tests help in the identification process for the Gifted and Talented program. There is nothing you can do to study or prepare at home for these tests. The best way to help is to make sure your child gets a good night of sleep, arrives on time (7:30), and eats a healthy breakfast. Please do not schedule any appointments for these days that would require a late sign in or an early dismissal that could interrupt testing for your child. If you have any questions, please email kaci.cotter@spart5.net
Parent Conferences
Parents, it is time for fall conferences! Teachers will be reaching out in the next week or so to get these scheduled. You will learn about your child's academic progress and have the opportunity to ask any quesitons you may have. Please be on the lookout for more information from your child's teacher.
Field Trips
We are starting our field trips this month! Please make sure your child wears his/her field trip shirt on the day of their trip. This is the blue t-shirt that says Future World Changer that PTO provided during our Boosterthon. Only approved chaperones may join students on the trip and this should be arranged with the teacher ahead of time. Chaperones may not bring siblings or other children on the trip. We would like to thank our PTO, and all of you that have supported PTO fundraising, for providing these shirts as well as for giving $1000 to each grade to reduce field trip costs for all students. This deduction has been applied to the yearly total for trips and we are so grateful for their partnership!
Please note that several field trips are having to be rescheduled. Teachers will be communicating out new dates as soon as they have them. Currently, the 4th grade trips from 9/30 and 10/1 were cancelled as well as the 3rd grade trips for 10/4 and 10/11.

A message from Mrs. Gossett and Miss Richardson
Hello Gator Families! We are so excited to start this school year as your School Counselors, Mrs. Gossett (full-time counselor, classroom guidance lead) and Ms. Richardson (part-time counselor, small group counseling lead)! Some of the programs that we coordinate at ACA include Gator Patrol, Great Gator, and Terrific Kid. Use the QR Codes below to explore our websites and learn more about these programs!
This year at ACA will be our second year as a Unified Champion School. This program allows us to implement our Unified Club, which includes students who take on leadership roles to promote inclusion at our school. Inclusion at ACA looks like students with physical, mental, and social emotional challenges engaging in equal opportunities alongside all of the students at our school. Unified Club membership is open to all students who can choose to take on various roles such as a PE Buddy, spirit week/day planner, community service, etc. This year our big goal is to go to Special Olympics Track and Field games in the Spring!
Wednesday, October 16th - District Unity Day - We will wear orange in support of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying.
Parents, please be on the lookout for information on our first spirit week of the year, Red Ribbon Week. This will be held October 28th - November 1st to promote drug-free, healthy living for our students and families at ACA!
Treat Bag: New Policy
Please note that we will not accept or distribute treat bags for birthdays or holidays. We know a lot of you like to send treat bags in for the class during certain holidays and we are no longer able to do this. Unfortunately, if treat bags are sent to school they will not be distributed and will be sent back home. Thank you for being respectful of this new policy.
Classroom Spotlight is on FIFTH Grade This Month
