Senior of the Week
Oswaldo Aguilar was selected by his counselor Mr. Roach. "Oswaldo is a phenomenal student leader. Both inside the classroom and out, he is always willing to lend a helping hand and support others in need. What I admire most about Oswaldo is his positive attitude and energy. He is the true definition of what it means to be a Rowland Raider by always being a Thinker, Communicator, and Contributor. He is a joy to be around and I'm excited to see him continue to thrive during his final year with us at Rowland HS. Great job Oswaldo, keep up the great work!"
Athlete of the Week
Kevin Lopez was selected by his football Coach Citos Marinez who said: "He is a hard worker who leads by example in the Classroom, Weight Room, and Football Field. He is the last of the Lopez brothers to come to Rowland High School and Play Varsity Football. This year he will anchor our offensive line and protect our QB's blind spot, on the defensive line he will be in charge of establishing control of the line of scrimmage. Kevin Lopez exemplifies the standard of a Rowland Raider Football Player and we look forward to seeing all of his accomplishments this season."
Scholar of the Week
Harrison Kwok was selected by the English department. Ms. Chu said: "Harrison is an active participant in class. He never hesitates to volunteer to read, provide insight into a text, and work on developing his skills in both reading and writing. In addition, his enthusiasm in class is unmatched and Harrison puts in effort into everything he does."
Arts Person of the Week
Lily Androff was selected as the FIRST-ever Art Person of the Week for CTE!
Mrs. Taylor said: "Lily was in the Parenting & Family Life class last year, and she is currently enrolled in two classes this year - Child Development and Life Management. Lily is well organized, friendly, and earns top grades on her work. She is a great thinker, communicator, and contributor to her class and students. Mrs. Taylor is very proud of the hard work and diligence that she puts forth every day- making her super worthy of this award! Congratulations Lily!"
Spanish Class
Mrs. Petersen engages students by asking them about their weekend plans in Spanish.
Economics Class
Students in Ms. Urbien's class began to learn the foundational concepts of Economics. During the week students studied the concepts of scarcity, trade-offs, and opportunity costs. Students came to the conclusion that we have unlimited wants and needs, but our resources are scarce. Following the course of study, students were able to determine the different categories of the factors of production. In the activity pictured, students chose a specific business and had to categorize the different items into the four factors of production which are land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship.
