Important Updates

The Third Grade Concert was a Hit!

Thank you so much for attending our Third Grade Concert! We are incredibly grateful for your support and for helping make the evening so special.

A huge thank you to our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Therrien, for sharing her love of music with our students and guiding them through such a joyful and meaningful performance. The students were so excited to showcase the songs they’ve been learning from around the world—especially the surprise Axolotl song, which was a definite highlight!

We hope you enjoyed the performance as much as we enjoyed preparing it. Your presence meant the world to our students!

Use of Cell Phones and Smart Watches

Students are extended the privilege of possessing phones/smartwatches on school grounds; however, their use is limited to after-school dismissal and non-school days. These devices must be in the off position on school grounds, including bus transportation. We would appreciate you monitoring your child’s cell phone use to ensure they are not using them during school hours. If you would like more information on our student handbook, please click below.

Please note that parents will not be receiving a paper copy of the Student Handbook. It is the responsibility of each family to review the Elementary Handbook and Discipline Procedures with their children. Thank you for your support.

5th Grade News

Too Good for Drugs

Officer Kramer is visiting 5th grade classrooms on Thursdays to educate our students using the Too Good For Drugs program. The Too Good For Drugs program is a school-based prevention program designed to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use among students. Too Good For Drugs has an instructional design which enables students to learn important skills sequentially and retain them.

Too Good for Drugs builds five essential life skills:

• Goal setting

• Decision making

• Bonding with pro-social others

• Identifying and managing emotions

• Communicating effectively

Boosterthon Awards

Thank you Davis families for supporting our school Boosterthon Fundraiser in February! Classrooms celebrated the 2nd award level with an extra recess the previous week, and Principal Shaw was spotted working from the roof for the 4th award level!!

Dads/male guardians/grandpas/uncles/adult brothers etc. - this is your opportunity to interact with and provide positive male role models for Davis students.
We need 4 volunteers every Friday from 11:15-1:25.

IAR (3rd-5th grade) Assessments

Dear Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Parents/Guardians,

Davis Students in grades 3 through 5 will be taking state tests in mathematics on the mornings of April 8-10. This is the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
Click HERE for a detailed letter on these assessments.
Please avoid scheduling appointments or absences on these mornings if possible.

In order for your student to do his/her personal best , please make sure that he/she:

Gets a good night’s sleep
Eats breakfast
Arrives to school on time
Brings chromebook fully charged to school
