FMS Veterans Day Art and Writing Contest
Attention Students: Did you know that November 11th is Veterans Day? Here at Forestbrook, we are honoring our Veterans by hosting a Veterans Day Writing and Art Contest. Take some time to create a poem, essay, story, or work of art in which you celebrate the men and women who have defended the United States of America. Use your creativity as a tribute to our nation’s veterans and active-duty members of the military, and to give thanks for their tremendous dedication and sacrifice.
Writing Instructions:
Create a poem, short story, essay, letter, or other piece of writing that captures your thoughts, feelings, and appreciation for our nation’s amazing veterans and military.
Art Instructions:
You can create a drawing, painting, collage, or even a work of digital art that captures your thoughts, feelings, and appreciation for our nation’s amazing veterans. Artwork will be judged based on neatness, relation to Veterans Day, creativity, and overall impact. Maximum size-- 12" x 18", please. Please see Mrs. Van Ness if you need some drawing paper or more information to get started.
Writing Entries are due to Ms. Myers in Room 701, and Art entries are due to Mrs. Van Ness in room 102, by the end of the day Monday, October 28th . The top writing and works of art will receive prizes and other recognition.

Welcome to the FMS Library! Remember if you owe any books to any other Horry County Schools location, you can give them to us, and we will send them to the correct school for you! Bring your books or replacement fines to Ms. Moore in the Library so we can clear your account.
We are fundraising for a new 3D printer this year. For our returning students, y’all know our 3D printer runs constantly. We need another one to keep up with the requests! Also, we’re hoping to raise enough funds so we can get another printer that can use cool filament. Want to support our 3D Printer Project? Sign up for Friends of the Library, our donation program, and get tons of perks throughout the school year, including a free gift every month! To sign up, please fill out this form and send your donation to the Library: https://forms.gle/y6J8PeFbeeTcn4Kj6

At the beginning of the school year, students were issued a laptop and charger. If your student does not have a device, they may owe fines from a previous year or their registration may be incomplete. You should have received an email, letter or phone call with this information. Payments may be sent to school with your student and given to the bookkeeper or the fine can be paid on MyPaymentsPlus.com. If you wish to turn in a missing/lost device that you have been charged for, the fine can be removed.
STUDENTS WHO HAVE PAID THEIR $25 TECHNOLOGY FEE are allowed to take their laptop home with them. If you have not yet paid the technology fee for the 24-25 school year, the fee can be paid in person in the front office or money can be sent in with your student.
If you have any questions regarding fines, fees or technology policy, you may email Ginger Bullock at gbullock@horrycountyschools.net.
GATOR CAFE
All students in Horry County Schools will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2024-2025 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.
Students will still have the option to purchase additional meals, food & snack items, and beverages at à la carte prices. À la carte items can be paid for in cash or by prepayment on the student’s cafeteria account. Charging for à la carte sales is not allowed. Prepayments can be made by cash or check at your child’s school cafeteria or with a debit card by setting up an account at myschoolbucks.com. Any charges remaining on a student’s cafeteria account from a prior school year are still the parent’s responsibility. If needed, payment arrangements for larger balances can be made by contacting the school cafeteria manager.
