Tiger Choir Chronicles

It has been another great week in the Tiger Choir Room! As always, each week I'll be sending out our weekly newsletter, the Tiger Choir Chronicles, sometime between Sunday and Monday. It will also be posted on the choir website under "Weekly Updates." Please be sure to read the full news update each week for reminders, upcoming events, and news. There is a lot of information in this week's newsletter so please be sure to read through everything that applies to your student.

Congratulations to our students who were a part of the Region 13 Region Choir weekend at George Ranch High School! They had an AWESOME experience working with some incredible clinicians including Chris Fiorini (choir director at Bridgeland High School), Denise Eaton (retired teacher from Spring High School, Sam Houston State University, and former editor of Carl Fischer and BriLee Music), and Dr. Derrick Fox from Michigan State University. I'm so proud of everyone and the incredible work they put in this weekend!

On Tuesday, November 12 we will have a Spirit DAY at Panda Express! 20% of all proceeds will benefit Travis Choir. Please be sure you show the flyer below (whether printed or on your phone), or use the code on the flyer (when ordering online) in order to make your purchase benefit the choir.

I'd like to offer my continued thanks to everyone who participates in our Spirit Nights and support our choir program!

Our annual FBISD West Zone Men's Fest will be held on Thursday, November 14th at Austin High School. This is a required event for all Tenor-Bass singers who are academically eligible. The itinerary is outlined below:

• 11:45 am: Depart campus and enjoy lunch at Raising Cane's (students need to bring money for lunch)
• 1:00 pm: check-in at Austin High School
• 1:15 pm - 5:30 pm: Rehearsals
• 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm: Dinner break
• 6:30 pm: Concert

This is always an exciting event for our students and I hope many of you will be able to attend in the audience to support our Tenor-Bass singers.

Uniform for students is their gray choir polo, blue jeans, and closed-toe shoes.

Choir pictures will take place during the school day on November 19th. ALL students need to bring their FULL uniform to school that day:

• Dresses & Formal Black Shoes
• Tuxedo: Black DRESS shoes, black socks, black tuxedo pants, WHITE DRESS SHIRT, vest, jacket, tie.

For students wearing a tuxedo, please remember that you must provide your own white shirt according to the guidelines below. Students will also receive their tie on November 19th.

Thank you to everyone who helped with our annual donation fundraiser! While we did not reach our goal for the year, we did raise more funds than last year which will allow us to continue to do awesome things for our Tiger Choir students!

Our Booster Club is still selling our "Travis Choir" yard signs! Signs are available "as is" ($20) or customized ($25)! If you're interested in showing your THS Choir pride, please send in your order money and ORDER FORM (only for customized signs) at any time!

Our Choir Parent Booster Club operates to help support and assist the choir program in many ways! We have regular meetings to help plan events, discuss volunteer needs, and discuss financial needs of the choir program. You can be as involved as you would like to be! To encourage membership, the board has waived all membership fees this year in hopes that you will join us and find out ways you can support your child in their musical journey as a member of the Travis Tiger Choir!

Chorale continues to work hard and make great progress! A few notes for the week:

• Caroling schedules were distributed this week. To ensure everyone has the correct information, the schedule is also linked HERE.
• On December 12th, we will be performing at Garcia MS as part of their Winter Concert. Please note that this date is DIFFERENT from the choir calendar. Concert start time is 6:30 pm. THS students call time is 5:30 pm. We will be performing pieces as part of the concert as well as caroling for concert attendees prior to the concert.

This year we are thrilled to add another private voice teacher to our staff and extend a warm welcome to Mr. Antoine Griggs. Mr. Griggs is an accomplished performer who regularly sings with various organizations in Houston, including the Houston Ebony Opera Guild and Houston Grand Opera! He came to campus a couple weeks ago to meet the students and began lessons last week. He still has a few spots open. If your child is interested, or if you have any specific questions please feel free to reach out to him at antoinegriggs@gmail.com. We are very fortunate in Fort Bend that lessons are taught during student's choir class time so no additional rehearsal time is necessary and I hope that many students will take advantage of this awesome opportunity!
