NEW Sermon Series Begins September 11
Go and make disciples of all the nations....
The mission of FBC is to make disciples of all the residents in Crowley and the surrounding area.
How do YOU fit into that mission? Have you considered that question? You have a mission that helps to achieve the larger mission of FBC which helps achieve the Great Commission that Jesus gave before he ascended to the Father.
This series of messages is taken from Matthew 10
Sept 11 - The Mission (1-8)
Sept 18 - The Environment (8-15)
Sept 25 - The Threats (16-25)
Oct 2 - The Tactics (26-31)
Oct 9 - The Responsibilities (32-42)
I encourage you to begin praying through this chapter and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts to better understand the situation, the mission, and the opportunity.
Tag Team Evangelism
When I was a kid I watched wrestling on Saturdays. I enjoyed it for the entertainment but didn’t get all into it like some friends of mine did. One facet of that was the tag team events. Each side would have two people who could work together. By rule, only one at a time could be in the ring but often that was overlooked!
In this passage we see 4 people working together to see 1 person come to Jesus. Let’s read it together.
Luke 5:18–20 (HCSB): Just then some men came, carrying on a mat a man who was paralyzed. They tried to bring him in and set him down before Him. 19 Since they could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on the mat through the roof tiles into the middle of the crowd before Jesus.
20 Seeing their faith He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”
When we talk about personal evangelism it references the work done like this rather than the public expression of the gospel at an event, camp, or worship experience.
While "personal" carries an understanding of a responsibility for what you are to be doing, it does not mean you have to do it all alone. These 4 people worked together to help the one. As you hear about personal evangelism consider the conversations you alone need to have with someone but also how you might partner with someone too.

In Craig Denison’s First15 devotional on August 12th, 2022 titled “Grace Filled Provision”, he writes the following:
“Entitlement is a disease that’s spread decay and death too far throughout the body of Christ. It kills any area in which it is allowed to enter by leading us to a life of pride and selfishness rather than hope and joy. It enslaves us to ourselves, as if we somehow deserve possession, status, power, friendship, or authority. When we don’t see everything we’ve received as a gift by God’s grace, we live our lives constantly toiling and striving to earn what our heavenly Father has already promised to give us. And when we have failures or problems, we alone carry the burden of need rather than looking to our faithful heavenly Father as our provider.
This life is not about what we have, but relationship with the God who has provided for us. If God has blessed you abundantly in the area of provision, I pray that you use every single possession as another opportunity to give thanks to the God who provided it for you in his grace. Every talent, skill, and dollar you possess was given to you because you are the child of a Father who loves you more deeply than you will ever know. All of us have been richly blessed by a God who faithfully provides for us. May we all walk in the freedom that comes as we live with the hope of God as our sole provider. May we see everything God uses to provide for us as a wonderful gift given to us by our heavenly Father. And may we serve and love God alone as we live our lives free from the slavery of pursuing the world.”
Please join us on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in the conference room to pray for Pastor Aaron, the church staff, and the needs of the church as well as pray for the day’s event - Bible study and the worship service.
Below are some items that can be used as your guideline for praying each day this week:
- Pray for Pastor Aaron as he prepares and delivers the message on Sunday, August 21st, 2022, from Matthew 7:13-23 that talks about “Be Careful What You Ask For”.
- Praise God for the financial support of the church by the people during the usually lean summer month of July and a couple of weeks into August.
- Praise God for the many workers who showed up to support the Back to School Celebration this past Sunday afternoon.
- Ask our Heavenly Father to help each of us to …ask, seek, and knock.
- Praise God for the workers who have already begun preparation for the Wednesday night children’s activities to start on 8/17 at 6:00 p.m.
- Ask our Lord to send children to learn more about Him during Elevate and to encourage the workers to just love on the children that He sends our way.
- Pray that our Heavenly Father will guide Pastor Jaime Perez as he leads Iglesia Vida Nueva (Hispanic church).
- Pray for Dexter Laureano as he leads the Redeemer Community Church (Filipino congregation).
- Community Engagement Team: for more information please contact Tim Gould.
- Praise God for July's tithes and offerings! We pray for that to continue.
- Children's Ministry begins Wednesday nights Aug 17.
- Church Conference and Lunch Aug 28 @ Noon
About Us
1. We desire to see every person in Crowley and the near regions become disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus. We are a Bible-believing church. Our command from God is to make disciples. However, that looks and feels different than it did when I was a kid! People are farther away from God than ever before. It takes more "touches" and deeper relationships before there can be spiritual conversations.
2. We will love people so they can move forward on life's journey. We have been saying this for a few months now, but want to keep saying it until we live it out everywhere we go! Because people are farther away from God than ever before we must choose to love them with patience, kindness, respect, and conversations - many conversations! We have to respect them as humans before we can discuss other matters. We must be patient with people as they work through the trauma that church and Christians have given over the years.
3. We have established a code of conduct for the FBC family:
- Accept — We provide a welcoming, non-judgmental and safe space where you can take steps of spiritual growth. We are a group open to new ideas and people. We would love to meet you.
- Recognition — We find the good in people and love to share it with others. We would love to get to know you.
- Inspire — We motivate to mobilize people to fulfill their God-given potential. Let us help you reach the heights for which you are designed.
- Serve — We engage our church and community by service projects, providing help when possible and sharing community resources.
- Evangelism — We want to build real, trusting, relationships in order to share the gospel of Jesus Christ that leads to life transformation.
