Student Data Reports
As we continue into the second semester, we are using the winter data we have collected to guide our instruction in a way that will benefit all KES students. We would like to share some of this data with families, and will be sending home some reports to all families regarding the progress of their students from fall to winter this year. Some of the reports will will be sending home are:
- Acadience Report: This report shows your child's growth on key reading skills ranging from Correct Letter Sounds and Phoneme Segmentation in the lower grades, to overall fluency/accuracy/comprehension in the upper grades.
- NWEA Report: This report shows your child's growth on key Reading and Math concepts from fall to winter.
- Individualized Reading Improvement Plan (IRIP): Students in grades K-4 who require support in specific reading skills may also receive an IRIP. This report lays out your child's strengths, areas of need, as well as our spring growth goals and strategies/interventions we will use to help them reach those goals. If you receive an IRIP for your child, please review it and sign/return the signature page.
If you have any questions regarding your child's reports, or how best to support your child's learning at home, please reach out to their homeroom teacher. Thank you for your support at home!
Morning Drop-Off Expectations/Procedures
- If you pull up to the entrance and are the only vehicle on the curb, please pull 1-2 car-lengths past the entrance. This allows several more vehicles to pull up behind you and drop off their students at the same time as you to keep our drop-off line moving.
- If you pull up behind another vehicle, leave room for your vehicle to pull out of line before the vehicle in front of you moves. If your student gets out quickly, you will be able to exit the drop-off line as soon as it is safe to do so.
- We know that some students need a few extra moments to collect their things or get one more hug or word of encouragement before they are ready to exit the vehicle each morning. If you know your student needs these things, or you need to exit your vehicle to assist your child, we ask that you park in our south lot and walk your student to the cafeteria entrance when they are ready.
- We also know that some families have younger children in the car that cannot be left unattended. Instead of parking, we ask that these families simply pull all the way to the end of the sidewalk. Once there, you can exit your vehicle on the curb to assist your student with drop-off.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in making our morning drop-off as efficient and safe as possible for all our KES families!
KES Grief Support Groups
Kingston Elementary School is offering short-term grief support groups to students in Y5-6th grade who may be struggling with difficult emotions surrounding a loss. These groups provide a safe, supportive environment for students to share their feelings, connect with others, and learn coping strategies. In collaboration with Children's Grief Center, groups will be run by our licensed and trained social workers, Mrs. Gentner and Ms. Ewald. These 6 session groups will be during the school day; however, scheduling will best be arranged to not disrupt core academic time. If you're interested in different levels of support for your child, please fill out the form below or contact Mrs.Gentner at rgentner@kingstonk12.org. Please complete this form by Wednesday, February 12th.
