SHOW, TELL & CELEBRATE: AN INTERCAMBIO CLUB SHOWCASE
SMHS's INTERCAMBIO CLUB hosted a vibrant MULTICULTURAL SHOW & TELL, where students shared their heritage, traditions, and personal stories through music, artifacts, posters, and slideshows, offering a rich variety of presentations. It was a beautiful celebration of diversity and student voice, highlighting how much we can learn from each other.
Special thanks to Intercambio Club Advisor, Ms. AMELIA VISCEGLIO, for her leadership.
SMHS's CHICAS FOR CHANGE and the MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCACY PROJECT facilitated White Ribbon Day here at SMHS on Friday, March 28. WHITE RIBBON DAY is an international campaign calling for the elimination of violence against women and girls and encouraging active allyship from men, boys, and all people to take a stand against violence and for gender equality. Thank you to all of the staff and students who wore white in honor of this important campaign.
BUILDING POWER in STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
HEADS OVER HEELS: 8th GRADERS GET THEIR BOBBLE ON!
EIGHTH GRADE ART STUDENTS bring personality and creativity to life through their latest ceramic project: handmade bobble head figurines! This unique assignment challenges students to sculpt a custom character with a head designed to bobble atop a secure, hand-built ceramic base. The pieces have gone through their first round of kiln firing, turning moldable clay into a strong, porous ceramic. Students can now begin the fun process of glazing, bringing their idea to life through layers of color, patterns and textures!
CALLING ALL TALENT!
The SMHS PTSA is sponsoring a TALENT SHOW on MAY 16, 2025 and is looking for student acts to audition for the show: singers, dancers, comedians, skits, musicians, etc. The top 3 winning acts will receive CASH PRIZES! Auditions will be held after school on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Scan the QR code above to apply!
7th STITCH: WEAVING WONDERS IN ART CLASS
SEVENTH GRADE ART STUDENTS have been diving into a vibrant MIXED MEDIA ART PROJECT that combines printmaking with textile design. Using Gelli plates and styrofoam printing techniques, students transferred bold patterns and images onto fabric, experimenting with color, texture, and layering. To take their pieces to the next level, they incorporated yarn and embroidery, adding depth and detail with hand-stitched embellishments. The result? Stunning, one-of-a-kind textile artwork that showcases both technical skill and creative expression. This project offered a fun and tactile way for students to explore print and fiber art—and they’ve truly stitched together something special!
RIDING HIGH: JUNGHANS GALLOPS TO VICTORY
SEVENTH GRADER GIULIANA JUNGHANS is a decorated equestrian rider who won at regionals this past weekend moving on to be the representative rider at Nationals for New England in her age division.
