Registration is Open!
The Feeding Seminar is designed to support education-based feeding teams. It addresses questions of safe feeding and provides feeding supports in educational settings. New teams, new team members and program administrators are encouraged to attend. The seminar is also open to parents, students, Speech-Language Pathologists and Assistants, Occupational Therapists and Assistants, educators and assistants, Pediatricians and Assistants, Nurses, Dietitians, and appropriate others.
Featuring
Lori L. Overland MS CCC-SLP, C/NDT, CLC, FOM- is a licensed speech and language pathologist with her neurodevelopmental certification and certificate as a lactation counselor. Lori is currently working on her IBCLC. She specializes in oral sensory-motor/feeding therapy, oral placement and orofacial myofunctional disorders in children. Lori’s private practice focuses on infants, toddlers and preschool children with oral sensory-motor/feeding disorders. She consults with children from all over the world providing evaluations, re-evaluations, program plans and week long, family-centered feeding therapy programs. Lori also provides consults to local school districts and Birth-to-Three organizations. Her goal in addressing feeding and speech challenges is to improve the quality of life for both the children she serves and their families. In addition to her private practice, Alphabet Soup, Lori is a member of the TalkTools® speakers’ bureau. Lori has lectured on sensory-motor/feeding disorders around the United States and internationally. She teaches TOTs, Feeding and Down Syndrome courses in addition to her pre-feeding webinar. Lori was accepted, multiple times, to present poster and live presentations on a sensory-motor approach to feeding, self-limited diets, and tethered oral tissue at the annual convention of the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association. She is a member of ASHA, CSHA, LISHA, NYSSLHA, the IAOM, ICAP and a board member of the oral motor institute. Lori holds degrees from Hofstra University and Adelphia University.
Day 1 - October 24, 2024
Functional Assessment of Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs)
Participants in this intermediate-level course will learn through the concept of task analysis the specific ways in which TOTs impacts the oral motor and oral placement skills for breast, bottle, cup, straw and solid feedings in addition to speech sound production.
Day 2 - October 25, 2024
Navigating the Feeding Journey
Pediatric feeding expert, Lori Overland, MS, CCC-SLP, C/NDT, CLC FOM is the author of the TalkTools® seminal feeding course, where she will be:
- discussing how structure impacts function in the orofacial region
- how the sensory system impacts feeding
- providing clear-cut task analyses for assessing breast/bottle feeding, spoon feeding, straw drinking and cup drinking
- sharing evidence-based techniques she has developed and put into practice
- presenting case studies studies from her practice
Conference Registration Fees
Online Registration closes on Friday, October 18, 2024
- $275 for two day EARLY BIRD Registration no later than Tuesday, October 1, 2024
- $295 for two day registration after October 1, 2024
- $155 for parents of children with disabilities or students attending college full time
- $205 for Douglas ESD employees
Registration fee includes buffet lunch each day. One-day registration is not available.
Those who register before September 30 will be entered into a drawing to win a certificate for a complimentary 1-night stay at the Grand Hotel Salem. Certificate good through April, 2025

There is no refund on cancellations after October 18, 2024.
Certificates of Attendance for 12 contact hour credits will be issued via email after the 2-day seminar. This course is ASHA and AOTA approved.
