Science Fair
We are so excited to announce that John Marshall School will have its Science Fair on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. It is sponsored by the ETEA PEP Committee. If your child is interested in participating, please sign up at the link below. Students who sign up must be registered by their own family member.
Reminder about Positive Digital Interactions
We are encouraging parents/guardians to monitor their child's online/cell phone activity to ensure healthy digital habits. As part of our Positive Action Program for the school, we are hoping to promote positive peer interactions, as they build good character traits.
Reminder for Bus Students
Please remind your child that they are not permitted to eat or drink on the bus. Students should not be finishing their breakfast on the bus in the morning or having a snack in the afternoon. Eating while on the bus can be a choking hazard and can also endanger other people on the bus who may have food allergies.
Notifying the Office
Parents/Guardians if you are sending a message about your child's absence, please make sure to email the Lisa Errico, lisa.errico@edison.k12.nj.us, in the main office or submit a note in Genesis. Please do not email the teacher.
If you need to make adjustments to your child's dismissal, please notify the main office by 3:15pm.
School Starting Time
This is a reminder that school starts at 8:55am.
If students arrive to homeroom later than 8:55 am, they will be marked tardy. The Drop Off Zone doors will close at this time, and parents/guardians will need to drive to the front of the building, park their car and walk their child to the front doors to sign them in.
Parents/Guardians can be taken to court over attendance. Please only keep your child/children home if they are sick and submit doctor's notes when your child/children are ill so we can mark the attendance excused. Parents/Guardians must have a meeting with school administration if they are absent frequently without any doctor’s notes.
If you have any questions regarding attendance please call the office at 732-650-5370.
Student Illness
Parents/ Guardians many learners are coming in and reporting directly to the nurse. As a reminder, please keep your child home for the following:
Fever - your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol or Motrin/Advil before returning to school
Vomiting/Diarrhea - please make sure your child has been free from vomiting for at least 24 hours and able to tolerate food before returning to school. If your child is having multiple episodes of loose stool, it is best to stay home.
Pink Eye - if your child wakes up with crust or discharge from the eye and the whites of the eye are pink/inflamed please visit your doctor. Pink eye must be treated with antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours before returning to school.
Pink eye must be treated by a doctor and a doctor’s note must be provided before returning to school.
Strep throat - if your child has sore throat, stomach discomfort, and/or fever they could have strep throat which is a bacterial infection that is contagious, and needs treatment with antibiotics. Please see your doctor, and keep your child home until they are treated with antibiotics for 24 hours.
We are hoping that adhering to these guidelines will keep everyone healthy in our school.
