Vintage Hills Families
We enjoyed seeing several families at our Flag Salute on Wednesday. We loved hearing the students’ howl at the end of the Salute. We also want to thank the parents that have been volunteering in classrooms and helping our students and teachers! As part of our school goals, we are working on reducing our chronic absenteeism rate. Please be mindful of vacations and doctor appointments when possible to ensure your student is present for instruction. When doctor appointments have to be done during the school day, it is helpful if they are scheduled towards the beginning or the end of the school day so your child is present for instruction as much as possible. As well, as a reminder, our gates open at 8:35am each day. It is important for students to arrive at school on time so they don’t miss instruction. As well, when students are late it disrupts the classroom. We appreciate your efforts in ensuring your child arrives before school starts at 8:50.

Student Attendance is key!
One of our key goals this year is to reduce chronic absenteeism. Last year, our absenteeism rate was 19.5%, meaning that 1 in every 5 students at Vintage Hills missed 18 or more days of school. Attendance is directly linked to student achievement and their social-emotional well-being. We hope you will partner with us in ensuring that students attend school whenever possible. You can help by scheduling vacations, trips, and appointments during non-school days.

Parking and Traffic Flow
As the new school year begins here are some important parking and traffic reminders! The back south small parking lot is for BASES PARKING ONLY! Please DO NOT use this parking lot for student drop off or pick up.
When you are using the continually moving front and back loops for drop off and pick up of your students please pull all the way forward. Drivers must remain in their vehicle at all times.
The cones in the south loop are in place for buses & handicap vehicles, remember to stay clear of these areas if they do not apply to you.
Teaching our students, by modeling safe procedures and practices is our way of making sure everyone is safe while on our campus. We appreciate your cooperation!
Bridges in Mathematics
Dear Educational Partner,
We are excited to inform you about a research project that Temecula Valley Unified is engaged with at 9 of our elementary schools. Starting this school year, we will be researching a new math curriculum, Bridges in Mathematics. This research project will be similar to curriculum pilots students and teachers have participated in over the years. This research project aims to enhance our math instruction and further support your child's learning journey. Furthermore, it will allow us to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum in our school environment and gather valuable feedback from students, teachers, and parents alike.
The decision to introduce a new math curriculum comes after careful consideration and evaluation by our dedicated team of educators and administrators following the release of the new math framework in the summer of 2023. The new framework envisions mathematics in TK-5 as a vibrant, interactive, student-centered endeavor of investigating and connecting the big ideas of mathematics. Teachers will organize and design instruction to investigate the big ideas, and connect both content and mathematical practices. For additional information regarding the new framework, please refer to the California Department of Education.
What does this mean for your student?
This is a three-year research project. During this period of time, your student's class will have the opportunity to explore new math materials and activities designed to promote deeper understanding and engagement. Our teachers will continue to deliver high-quality instruction while incorporating these new resources into their lessons.
How will you be involved?
Your feedback is invaluable to us. Throughout the research/pilot program, we encourage you to share your thoughts, questions, and observations with us. Your input will help us make informed decisions about the curriculum moving forward. We appreciate your support and partnership as we work together to provide the best possible education for your child. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey of discovery and growth with you and your family.
Warm regards,
Sandy McKay
