Principal Message
Dear Parents and Students of Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Welcome back! We pray you had a joyful, sunny summer, filled with God’s blessings and time with loved ones. But as much as we hope you enjoyed the break, we are also truly grateful to have you back with us. September is an exciting time.
This year, we are blessed with many exciting developments. We look forward to continuing to grow in faith and community through our House System, which fosters unity, school spirit and, rumour has it, some degree of competition. (New year, new House competition.) We're also excited to welcome a new cohort of students to our brand new Cogito Academy program. So, a special welcome to them, to all our Grade Fives, and anyone new to the building.
May God bless us all with a fruitful and grace-filled school year ahead!
In Christ,
Mr. Johnson

God Bless
Dear Families of OLPH,
We are looking forward to seeing your child at École OLPH for the 2024 - 2025 school year. To ease your family’s return back to school in the fall, we will again be doing a staggered entry. Here are the dates for staggered entry at each grade level.
Last names beginning with … will start classes on the following days.
- August 29 - A-K all grades
- August 30 - L-Z all grades
Please note: the letters are chosen to balance the numbers of students attending each day. Should your family like to request a change in day, please contact the office.
Here is some additional information for you to ease your child’s transition back to school:
Students will find their homeroom teacher’s name posted on the classroom doors the first day back.
Students’ option selections will be shared with students during their first day of school.
Should your child be in a specialty program (Performing Arts or Sport for Life) you should have already received confirmation from the school. If you believe you registered your child for one of our specialty programs and have not received a confirmation email from the school, please contact the office.
Bell Schedule (click here)
Student Drop Off/Pick Up
The doors open at 8:35 each morning. Students are expected to wait outside until then (weather permitting).
We ask that parents/guardians remain outside of the school when dropping off their children.
Please take a moment to read the Principal's Message regarding drop off and pickups.
Map of the School (click here)
Each grade level has a designated entrance. Students are expected to use this entrance when they come to school, for recess, and at the end of the day. The colors on the map correspond to the doors that students enter and exit.
On a typical day, when students arrive at the school they remove their outdoor boots/shoes and head straight to their homeroom class. Your child's teacher will show them where they can put their boots and winter coat when they arrive for their first day of school
Supplies - Please come to school with:
your regular school supplies,
indoor shoes (athletic non-marking running shoes),
a water bottle, and
an identified personal electronic device (such as a Chromebook).
We very much look forward to seeing your child in the fall,
- Mr. Johnson

Student Expectations
Dear Parents,
Student Tardy Expectations
Should your child arrive late to school in the mornings or the afternoon, please have them come to the front doors of the school and ring the doorbell located directly on the front door of the school. Mrs Winland will then let them into the school.
Student Pick Up Expectations
Should you require to pick up your child early from school, please either contact Mme Winland in the school office at 780-467-5631 upon your arrival and your child will be sent out to you at the time, alternatively, you may come into the school office and inform Mrs. Winland that you are here to pick up your child for an appointment.
All students will remain in their class until their parent arrives at the school.
Prior to leaving early, all students must check out with Mme Winland in the office.
Student Cell Phone Expectations
There will be a new cell phone policy for the 2024-2025 school year. Further communication will be provided shortly.
Student End of Day Expectations
Please make sure that your child(ren) know if they are to take the bus or if they are getting picked up at the end of the day.
If a student comes to the office at the end of the day and are unsure if they are taking the bus or if you are picking them up, we will be sending them home on the bus.
School Doors
The school doors will be open at 8:35 a.m., unless the weather is extremely cold, whereas the doors will be open for students to wait quietly in the foyer.
École OLPH Staff Parking Expectations
École OLPH staff parking lot is a drop off and pick up free flowing zone. Your collaboration and consideration to others will be greatly appreciated to keep the traffic flow moving at all times.
How to Report a Student Absence
Dear Parents,
Here are some easy instructions on "How to Report a Student Absence".
Submitting Upcoming Absences - PowerSchool
Please note: We do not subscribe to the APP, you must use the website https://eics.powerschool.com
When you log into your parent portal account, a list of all the students currently attached to your account will be listed across the top of the screen.
After choosing a student, the very first option on the left is the ability to enter/review upcoming absences.
When you click this link, a list of absences entered by parent accounts for the past 30 days will be shown. (This list does not include days when a student was absent but the absence was not entered by the parent - only absences entered through this system are displayed.)
After clicking the link, you can then choose whether to enter a single day or multi-day absence.
To enter an absence, provide the appropriate information for the following questions:
- The date of the absence (or the start/end date for a multi day absence).
- The reason for the absence (Flu-like Symptoms, Other Illness or Parental Excused).
- The absence type (Full Day, Late Arrival, Early Departure, Leave and Return).
- Note: If you choose a partial day absence, you will also be asked to provide an approximate arrival and/or departure time.
- A box for comments is available if you have further information you wish to share.
Early Pick Up
If you need to pick your child early for an appointment, please arrive 5 minutes early to allow time for the child to be called out of class. All students must check out at the office and exit through the front door.
Late Arrival
Should your child arrive at school after 8:43 a.m. or after lunch, please use the front door of the school and have your child report to Mme Winland in the school office prior to going to their class.
All students should be in class by 8:45 a.m.
God Bless

Dear Parents,
Fees collected for field trips include admission to facilities, transportation, facilitator instruction costs, and the purchase of supplies/equipment. Transportation costs are divided equally among all students in the class / group.
Therefore, students who are absent on the day of the field trip will not be reimbursed transportation fees. Admission and material fees will be reimbursed where venues/presenters do not charge the school for the absence of the student.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
All outstanding school fees from the 2023-2024 school year are now due. School fees are due 30 days from the date they were applied.
To avoid going to collections in September, please log into your PowerSchool account to pay for your child's school fees. School fees may be paid via your PowerSchool Parent Portal with Debit, VISA, or MasterCard.
If you require assistance with your PowerSchool account, username or password, please contact Mme Winland in the school office at 780-467-5631.

We are always looking for volunteers throughout the year - from help with hot lunch (most Wednesdays) to other events we put on throughout the year (such as l'epluchette/corn roast, Shrove Tuesday, pool parties and various events). We try to keep our fundraisers to a minimum, as the Grade 8's fundraise for Voyage Quebec.
Please consider helping out wherever you can! Our executive team also work full time and we always need extra hands. Events are not possible without volunteers to make them happen.
Thank you!
