Mindfulness Minds- Day of Prevention
We recently wrapped up an amazing Day of Prevention for Students, filled with learning, connection, and inspiration! 💬💪🧘
Students participated in a powerful presentation on
"How to Stay Human in the Digital Age" — exploring how to stay grounded and kind in a tech-driven world. While also learning about boundaries while online, and some do's and don't when it comes to healthy technology habits.
They also enjoyed a relaxing yoga session that helped them reset and recharge, both mentally and physically.
A huge thank you to our incredible community partners who made the day possible:

Field Trips!
Pura Vida from Costa Rica!
Our students took the adventure of a lifetime- they soared through the rainforest on ziplines, kayaked crystal clear rivers, rode horseback through breathtaking trails, and gave back through meaningful community service projects. Unforgettable memories, real-world learning and whole lot of fun.
School Trip to Ireland, Wales, and England – A Journey of Discovery and Culture
🎡Our students recently returned from an unforgettable educational trip through Ireland, Wales, and England, where they explored the region’s rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes. During the journey, they visited iconic landmarks such as Blarney Castle in County Cork, Snowdonia National Park in Wales, and the houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower), and Westminster Abbey in London. They toured prestigious Trinity College and experienced local life in cities including Adare, Sneem, and London. 🏰🍀
Throughout the trip, students traveled by bus and ferry while taking part in cultural activities, sampling traditional cuisine, and gaining valuable insights into the diverse heritage of the British Isles. The experience fostered independence, curiosity, and a greater global perspective—while also creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
Philadelphia Trip 🧡
🌿🚌 Learning beyond the classroom!- Ecology School
Our 7th and 8th grade Dragons recently returned from an incredible trip to The Ecology School in beautiful Maine, where they engaged in hands-on environmental learning surrounded by nature. From exploring forest ecosystems and coastal habitats to practicing sustainable living, they experienced science in action—right under the open sky. 🌲🌊🔬
The trip sparked curiosity, strengthened friendships, and deepened their connection to the natural world. We’re so proud of the knowledge and inspiration they brought back with them! 🍃📸
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAURETE PROGRAMME
International’s IB Policies: What Are They, and What Do They Say?
As an authorized IB World School, AIS has developed five policies that are required by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO): an academic integrity policy, an admissions/access statement, an assessment policy, an inclusion policy, and a language policy.
These policies were developed by various subcommittees at AIS, and reflect both the basic tenets of the IBO and our school’s unique ecosystem. Policies are reviewed and revised annually. They are posted on our school’s website (under “About Our School”).
For your convenience, here are links to each policy:
IB Learner of the Month
Each month at International, we focus on one of the IB Learner Profile traits, and celebrate scholars and teachers who exemplify them. As partners in education, we love sharing ways that you can support the development of these traits at home.
MAY- Knowledgeable
As school year 24-25 wraps up, our thoughts run to our graduating seniors (congratulations!), as well as how best to support our 6-11 students as they continue on their paths toward graduation. Our commitment to the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programs is due in large part to the ways that they prepare students for success as thoughtful, action-oriented, capable and caring adults.
Because there are fewer IB World Schools in the Northeast (as compared to other regions in the US), parents and caregivers around here may think that IB students could be at a disadvantage in the college admissions process. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Here are a few videos that speak to the advantages of being an IB student in college admissions:
Stanford University Dean of Admissions (retired) on:
For more information on the IB and university admissions, visit this link.
As you and your child embark on the college search and admissions processes, we encourage you to ask questions about IB at the schools and programs you’re considering. At International, we have compiled a list of colleges and universities with links to their IB credit policies. This could help direct your search for the right college or university for your child. Please reach out with any questions that you may have!
For the month of May, we focus on the last IB learner profile trait: Knowledgeable.
This month, International’s featured IB Learner Profile trait is Knowledgeable. As knowledgeable people, we “develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. We engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.”
Interested in ways to bring this trait to life outside of school? Here are a few ideas!
Ask your student about what they are learning and why it matters:
“Why do you think that is an important thing to know about?”
“Can you think of anything happening in the world today that might be similar to that aspect of history?”
Foster any area that your student expresses an interest in with books and activities, but also be sure to encourage them to explore other areas (so they expand their horizons).
Encourage your student to become familiar with current events and to read and watch the news and watch the news - from reputable news outlets.

Attendance Matters ALL YEAR LONG!
- The school day is from 7:30-2:05.
- Scholars missing school for 3 cores or more will be considered absent for the day.
- Attendance matters for all classes so if a scholar can only attend 1 or 2 cores for an excused reason, we highly recommend they do.

High School Scholars: Loss of credit for a class can occur after 12 absences (Half Year Courses) or 24 absences (Full Year Courses). Please contact your Counselor to discuss how credit can be recovered.
Please remind your child of the importance of waking up early and being in school daily. If you need support and resources please contact Ms. Gibson at sgibson@crec.org or their school counselor (listed below).
