Dorado Families!
This week is the midway point for 4th quarter with the final Progress Report of the school year posting this Friday. The next grades to come out will be 4th quarter and 2nd semester cumulative grades in May. With just under 5 weeks of school left, it is more important than ever that you check in with your kiddos about their grades. We offer 3 mornings (T, W, Th) of "Tutorial" for students from 8:25 - 8:55, in addition to offering "travel" during Wednesday advisory periods.
Our next newsletter will focus on the end of the school year with our final exam schedule and grades.

April 1 - 5 was National Assistant Principals Week and we wanted to make sure to take the time to recognize our amazing Assistant Principals. As with all educators and staff, one week for this just doesn’t cut it because they deserve to be appreciated every day. Needless to say, let’s all take a moment to thank our Assistant Principals! All of the “behind the scenes” work they do really keeps our campus running and from the entire Dorado community, we want to say that we appreciate Mr. Dominguez, Mr. Enright and Mr. Spencer for all of their hard work and contributions to the CDO Community!

Upcoming Testing Dates
Save the Date - April 22nd - May 10th
- MAP Testing - all Sophomores and Freshmen will be taking their final state tests with their Math and English classes.
- AP and IB Testing begins May 1st - May 17th. Testing dates and times are as follows.
AP Mock Exams
AP World History and AP US History will be hosting mock/practice exams on Saturday, April 27th on campus.

CDO Scholars Night
CDO Scholars Night will take place on Friday, May 10th. The following CDO Awards & Accomplishments include an invitation to CDO Scholars Night:
- CDO Scholar with Distinction: Students who have taken at least 12 weighted classes and have an overall weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher
- CDO Scholar: Students who have taken at least 12 weighted classes and have an overall weighted GPA of 3.50-3.99
- Top 10%: Based on students' overall weighted GPA

Skills USA State Championships
CDO performs again at the Skills USA State Competition
The Skills USA State Championships are in the books. CDO's SkillsUSA Chapter received the Chapter of Excellence Silver level of Distinction. CDO's own Kate McCuen took home the Gold medal in masonry and Cameron Wall brought home the Silver medal in plumbing. And finally, Mr. Ronstadt was chosen as the SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year awardee.
CDO Construction and Architecture
This week students received some welding training from the professionals who visited our shop at CDO Construction. Thanks to JB Steel, the students learned how to weld with stick (Arc) and wire feed (MIG) welders and they loved it.
And the Architect students from CDO won the top 3 awards in the NAWIC (National Women in Construction) Design Drafting Competiton. Students from CDO and Sahuarita had to create sheets for a program, designing 5 levels of floor plans for an updated Row house.
Allison Clark placed 1st and Tanner Jones and Jaden McClelland placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
FCCLA State Competition
Congratulations to all of the students that competed in the FCCLA State competitions this year for Culinary Arts!
- Madison Reynolds placed 2nd in the state for Mystery Basket
- Jace Parker placed 3rd in the state for Knife Skills
- Haley Terrazas received a silver medal for Cookie Display
- Hava Keefe received a bronze medal for Baking and Pastry
CDO Choir
Congratulations to these talented vocalists!
- Amalia Matchett and Calem Tanner were rated in the top 200 high school singers in the state of Arizona and sang in the All-State Choir Festival April 11-13 at the University of Arizona.
- Jake Doyle was rated in the top 240 singers in the entire state.
- Kailey Gueths and Calem Tanner also completed their capstone project in the fine arts and will be awarded the Arizona State Seal of Excellence, an official recognition that they are ready to pursue a career in music. Congratulations on your hard work!
Arizona Science Olympiad State Competition
Students from Chemistry club competed in the Arizona Science Olympiad State competition at ASU on April 6th. They competed against 31 teams across the state.
- Logan Christian and Ben Lathrem Finished 2nd in Robot Tour (robotics)
- Riley Goodwin and Scarlett Bakken finished 9th in Experimental Design
- Ivy Tucker and Jackie Kinman finished 8th in Forensics
- Logan Christian Finished 4th in Detector Building.
Odyssey of the Mind
The Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament wrapped up on March 30th. Three CDO teams competed. Technical placed first, Structure placed 2nd, and Performance placed 1st. They will all be attending World Finals at Iowa State University.

Selected Symphonic Orchestra members had the opportunity to perform at the following events.
- 4/6 Amphi Gala, 6pm – 7pm
- 4/11 Amphi Arts Opening Night at Catalyst at Tucson Mall from 5:30pm- 6pm.

Academic Decathlon News
Annual Art Show at Tucson Mall
Ms. Beca's Art students will be displaying all levels of art work at the Tucson Mall, April 10th - April 24th. Stop by to check out some talented Dorados and support the creativity of our students!
ATHLETICS UPDATES
Spring Sports
Spring Sports are underway:
Baseball and Softball are continuing to have strong seasons and should host one or two playoff games here at CDO in late April and early May.
Track – is just starting to look at who and what event they will qualify for at State Tournament.
Boys' Volleyball is doing well in the conference and could qualify for "play in" mode of the playoffs.
Beach Volleyball is doing well and has a shot at making post season play next week!
