Our District is collaborating in our community with Knox College this summer to provide exciting opportunities to our students:
● District #205 will provide scholarships for 168 #205 students to attend Knox College’s
College 4 Kids this summer. Scholarships will be provided on a first-come, first serve
basis to students entering grades 1-8 (21 students per grade level). Knox College 4 Kids
started in 1975. It is an annual summer academic enrichment program offered by the
college. Participating students select from an array of courses provided by local
community professionals and educators. The camp runs from July 8-19th, 2024 this
year. Registration information and additional details can be found at:

Citizenship Award
This week we recognized one of our 4th graders for doing something very heroic on her way to school. On her way to the bus stop, a little toddler ran up to her who was unaccompanied by an adult and was lost. The little boy could not tell her where he lived so she called 911 on her cell phone. She let the police know what happened and waited with the little boy until the police got there. Then she came to school like nothing ever happened. We are so proud of her!
Steele Stars Met the Behavior Goal for April!
Before the students at Steele Elementary left for Spring Break, they were told that if they made it through April with less than 50 office referrals they would be able to turn their principal, Mrs. Coate into an "ice cream sundae". Steele students succeeded and had under 50 referrals during the entire month of April so that meant it was time to have some fun with ice cream toppings at Steele.
According to Mrs. Coate, students also had to demonstrate positive behaviors, which included being safe, kind, and helpful. The students all enjoyed taking sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate syrup and whip cream and "decorating" their principal who with a cherry on top, also enjoyed the celebration.
