Micheala Watson and Elizabeth King represented Westwood High School at the Tom Baldini Soapbox Showcase at Northern Michigan University. Micheala and Elizabeth competed against other students from across Marquette County. Student present on topics from bullying to mental health and gun control. Community members judge the presentations and select a winner. Congratulations Micheala and Elizabeth for being selected to represent Westwood High School at the event!

Andrew Ostola was chosen as a science student of the month for his commitment to excellence in science, working hard to understand difficult concepts and helping others in the classroom if they are struggling. He is involved in student council, and is involved in the Chief Science Officer leadership program. Andy always brings a smile to class, and a high work ethic.

Jay Balzarini is an exuberant personification of curiosity and creativity. Jay comes to class every day ready to learn and genuinely interested in the topics we cover. Jay also puts extra effort and thought into assignments requiring creativity and research. Jay turns in work that is uniquely their own and beyond what I had expected. I admit I look forward to hearing and seeing what new ideas Jay will bring to class discussions. Having Jay present pushes the other students to pay attention and increases engagement.

Congratulations to our Girls Bowling Team and Coach Barrie Rae as they captured the Regional Championship last weekend in Cheboygan! The team advances to the MHSAA State Finals Feb.28-March 1in Jackson, MI. It must have been the socks! Go Patriots!

Congratulations to Junior Averie Vial for finishing 6th today at Individual Bowling Regionals! Averie advanced to the Individual State Finals in Jackson, MI Feb. 28-March 1. Best of luch Averie!
