We are offering the Spanish I proficiency test on January 15th. You can gain high school credit for a foreign language by taking the Spanish I proficiency test. If you pass the Spanish I test, then you will be invited to take the Spanish II test the following week. When you take and pass the Spanish proficiency test, then you are not required to take that course at a later date.

With the end of the semester approaching it is important for students to be at school everyday. If your student must be absent, please contact the attendance office.

Each Wednesday your child tracks their grades on our Pathways to Success sheet. They write goals based on their progress. Please talk to your student about their grades and goals.

Research shows the benefits of students improving their grades in middle school:

• Middle grade attendance and GPA provide the best indication of how students will perform in high school classes

• Improving grades and attendance in the middle grades can have a large pay-off for high school success; even more so than improving test scores.

• Students who are chronically absent or receiving Fs in the middle grades are at very high risk of being offtrack for graduation in ninth grade, and eventually dropping out of school
