In honor of National Read Across America Day
Dates: February 17 – March 10
Ivy Hill PTA is excited to announce our FIRST annual Book Drive, held in honor of National Read Across America Day (celebrated March 2)! This year, we're partnering with Bernie’s Book Bank—the leading provider of quality books to at-risk children in the Chicagoland area—as well as Books4Cause—a non-profit donation center that turns book donations into free libraries for local and global literacy programs.
What to Donate:
Please consider donating new and gently used books for children and adults (textbooks and foreign-language books are also acceptable).
Our Goal:
Our goal is to collect 1,000 books (roughly 2 books per student). If we meet our goal, the PTA will purchase $100 worth of new books for the school library.
How to Donate:
Books can be placed in the designated collection bins located near the front desk area at Ivy Hill School from February 17 through March 10.
Join us in fostering a love of reading and making a positive impact in our community.

Our last Book Club meeting is Tuesday, March 11th.
The Arlington Heights Memorial Library will be joining us again for the final meeting.
If your child borrowed a book from the PTA library, please have them return it on Tuesday in the LMC, or to the front office by Friday, March 21st.
The book should be returned in similar condition. If your student loses the book, we do ask that you cover the cost of replacing it.
We're still missing a copy of "How to Survive Middle School." If you or your student finds it, please return it to the office. It will have a label on the back cover like the photo below.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Anna R, Maria B, Megan M, Greg A, Doreen L, Shoja H, Thao G and Dao T for their supervision and assistance with the Chess Club this winter. It was wonderful to see such a large group of kids enjoying indoor activities during these cold months. From the bright-eyed beginners eager to learn, to the chess aficionados engaging in passionate strategy beyond the adults, it was a fantastic experience for all.

If YES, take a look at the PTA Committee Sheet linked below. There are plenty of events happening this year and opportunities to be on a PTA Committee.
Members may add themselves to this sheet if they are interested in joining a committee this year.
If you are looking to volunteer time or donate items, watch for Sign Up Geniuses throughout the year as things come up. Some items are one time events (Ex: Fall Fest) and some are spread throughout the year (Ex: Staff Events). **This is NOT the sign up for Room Rep (room parents who plan parties).
- PTA provides the opportunity for parents to take an active role in their child's educational environment.
- PTA sponsors many school events such as Fall Fest, Field Day, Movie Night, Book Fair, Picture Day and Yearbooks.
- The PTA provides birthday books for all students.
- Opportunities to volunteer in your kids classroom and lunch periods.
- Get access to the school directory. (Please note the district compiles the directory and when it is available (typically Sept/Oct) those that signed up for it during PTA registration will receive an email how to set up the app.)
- Priority volunteer opportunities for school events such as Fall Fest, Field Day, Movie Night and Book Fair.
- Visit pta.org for membership discounts available.
