Highlights of the week
As we approach our final half term break of the year, our students and staff have shown incredible dedication and resilience.
Firstly, it's wonderful that 50 of our students are currently enjoying some time in Le Touquet, France and are having a fantastic experience. Under the guidance of Ms Tonella, Ms Downs, Ms Lilley, Mr Meinke and Mr Ryan and they are engaging in a variety of cultural activities, creating wonderful memories and enriching their understanding of French culture. What a great way to end the term.
Back home, 35 students had the privilege of attending another wonderful theatre trip to see "Witness for the Prosecution". The performance captivated our students, with audible gasps at the plot twists, and it has definitely sparked a newfound appreciation for Agatha Christie among them. It's wonderful to see their enthusiasm for literature and the arts growing.
Our Year 11 students will be on a brief hiatus from their exams. While they enjoy a well-deserved break from sitting exams, we know they will continue their diligent revision in preparation for the second half of their exam series. To all our Year 11 students: we are so proud of your amazing efforts and the commitment to your futures, you are an inspiration to every one of the other year groups.
Mental well-being has been a significant focus recently, both for students and staff. We have witnessed a flourishing of 'mental health trees' around the school, each leaf offering advice and support from students on managing stress and anxiety. This initiative, coordinated by Mr Savvidis, has fostered a supportive and uplifting environment, reflecting our commitment to the well-being of our whole school community.
We are also proud to announce that our exam team, led by Ms Smith and Ms Reguera, along with our dedicated invigilators, received exemplary results in a recent JCQ inspection. Their hard work and meticulous organisation have ensured a smooth and calm examination process for all our students. Thank you both for your commitment and dedication to all our students.
Last week's talent show was a spectacular success, showcasing the incredible variety and originality of our students' talents. Congratulations to Edie Radcliffe who sang A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman our second-place winners Katie Chong, Mia Lam and Chloe Ku who mesmerised us with a stunning rendition of Cannon in D by Pachelbel on piano, flute, and violin and to Kaya Scott, who took third place with a beautiful vocal performance of Love by Keyshia Cole. All the students who took part in the contest and a special mention goes to our talented staff band: Ms Aitkin (Head of Music) on keyboard and vocals, Mr He (Science) on bass, Mr Ryan on guitar, and Ethan Scott, our Head Boy, on drums. Their covers of Amy Winehouse and Blur truly brought the house down and highlighted the vibrant spirit of our school community. Congratulations to everyone. It was a really wonderful evening.
As we look back on this half-term, we are immensely proud of everyone's efforts, progress, dedication, and perseverance. Thank you for your continuous support, which helps our school thrive.
Enjoy the upcoming break, and I look forward to seeing everyone recharged and ready for the next term.
