February proved to be an incredible month for Freedom as our Eagles had the privilege of learning from Governor Ron DeSantis, who kicked off our Freedom Leadership series. This initiative aims to expose our students to successful career individuals, providing inspiration for their own career goals. The Eagles demonstrated outstanding leadership in hosting the governor, showcasing their commitment to personal and professional development. We take great pride in their accomplishments and look forward to further empowering them on their journey towards success.

This week proved to be an exceptionally bustling period for our school community, as we were honored to host Governor DeSantis during his visit to Freedom. Amidst the whirlwind of events, five outstanding students - Erik, Jake, Sarah, Chet, and Julia - had the unique opportunity to express their gratitude to the governor for his pivotal role in making The Freedom Institute a reality. Their eloquent words not only conveyed their appreciation for the educational opportunities provided by the Freedom but also showcased the excellence and character that define our school. Their representation was truly commendable and underscored the positive impact that the governor's support has had on our educational endeavors. Soar Eagle!

As always, I am proud to work with such a great group of high schoolers every day!

For ELA, we finished our novel study for Ray Bradbury's classic Fahrenheit 451. We participated in literature circles, played Kahoot and Jeopardy games, took online quizzes, and completed a final creative assignment. We also completed a writing activity about the HB1 legislation and how that has impacted educational paths at Freedom.

For Consumerism, we are wrapping up the final topics of Quarter 3: College Planning, Financial Services, The Role of Insurance, and Income and Taxes. We have one more quarter, and then we will have completed the course: Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance (Homeschool 9-12).

For Career, we had amazing guest speakers this quarter: Governor Scott Walker, Tom Leedy and Jenna Ott from the Dekko Foundation, and GOVERNOR DESANTIS! In addition, we are attending a field trip to the Revs Institute, and as always, will continue to work on our resumes, career success plans, and completing any other customized curriculum, certifications, or internships that will help further students' career aspirations and goals.

In Algebra, are wrapping up slope and the formulas used to solve for and graph lines. We will take an assessment on these concepts next week.

For Geometry, we are working through triangles and the theorems that are used to solve for unknown parts of triangles.

For US Government, we had an exciting month learning about the House of Representatives and the Senate. Additionally, we prepared for Governor DeSantis’s visit to Freedom.

The Freedom Institute was so honored to have Governor Ron DeSantis visit us and speak to our students, families, and community members about the importance of parental choice for education. His visit was exciting, and we are thankful he took the time out of his busy schedule to visit and support us.

What a great opportunity for some of our students (Anthony, Julia, Jake, and Sarah) who attended the NextGen Speaker series featuring Ginni Rometty, former Chairperson/CEO/President of IBM. We are so inspired by the valuable information she shared and loved making connections with other organizations in our community, including Elite Jets, who sponsored the table we were at!

Our students are very excited about our upcoming field trip on Thursday, March 7th to The Revs Institute. It is literally right around the corner from our building, so we will walk to this adventure. We can't wait to learn all about the history of the automotive industry!
