There are so many ways to help your child at home even if you are not fluent in the target language they are learning. Here are some tips for doing so:

• ask what they learned in class
• review their vocabulary or class notes with them for 5-10 minutes daily.
• listen to music in the target language.
• watch Television or movies in the target language.
• speak the target language if possible at home.
• flashcards with vocabulary
• label items in the house in the target language.
• use free digital platforms like Duolingo for 5 minutes a day.

Last weeks of our journey through Spanish 1.

Already this Friday we start the review for the end of the year exam.

(Miguez)Students will be introduced to the following:

• Students will be introduced to the following: terms for parts of a house; names of common household objects; terms for household chores; relative pronouns; formal (usted/ustedes) commands; object pronouns with formal commands; present subjunctive; subjunctive with verbs and expressions of will and influence; cultural and geographic information about Panamá; review for CFE.

• Last weeks of our journey through Spanish 2.

  Already this Friday we start the review for the end of the year exam.

  We will review all the vocabulary and grammar learned during the whole year. After the exam we will continue with lesson 6 to be ready for the next school year.

Students will be introduced to the following:

• Students will be introduced to the following: terms for current events; media-related vocabulary; “SI” clauses in the subjunctive mood; review of subjunctive forms; using the subjunctive, indicative, and infinite in complex sentences; recognizing chronological order; writing a composition about improving the world; cultural and geographic information about Paraguay; cultural and geographic information about Uruguay; review for CFE.

French 1(6th)-currently offered online via OCVS/FLVS.

French 2 (7th)- currently offered online via OCVS/FLVS.

French 3 (8th)-currently offered online via OCVS/FLVS.

sexto grado(6)- students have been working on the creation or their autobiographies and ready to present to class. We will be reviewing all concepts given to review for the end of the year test with some additional reading components such as Cajas de Cartón and Magia Negra.

séptimo grado(7)- Students finished working on Poetry and its components. Final review has begun and we will end the year reading another novel.

octavo grado AP(8)-Students are at the end of all AP components. They have worked hard to understand all needed to do as best as they can. From reading, listening to writing 5 paragraph essays. After testing I will be introducing a Literature piece names La casa de Bernarda Alba. Students will watch the film and compare with the original play.

Ciencias Biológicas (6to)-Will be working with

• Review for CFE (Common Final Exam)
• CFE test: May 12th during 4th period
• Frog Dissection: May 23rd

Ciencias terrestres (7mo)-Will be working with

  Our ASL students are reviewing for their CFE happening on May 12-16.

TWDL 6th grade scientists

7th and 8th grade TWDL students recited poems from Hispanic authors to celebrate National Poetry Month.

Uniting Science and Spanish classes, 6th grade TWDL students created posters to show awareness on different global issues to celebrate Earth Day. While 7th and 8th grade created videos and cleaned up our campus.

The officers of the Spanish Honor Society at West Orange High came to speak to our members of the Sociedad de la Amistad about the benefits of being part of an honor society and how it helps in the future college applications and careers.
