Macleans Primary School Newsletter
Wednesday 20 November 2024
Maori Whakatauki & MPS Values
Kia Ora koutou Parents and Macleans Primary Whānau
We are moving into the last few weeks of term 4 and the school year which means we are wrapping up the learning for 2024 and making plans for 2025. The focus in classes continues to be the learning and Macleans Values, and this can be seen at the 'open classes' later this week (see below for more information). Speaking of 2025, further down in the newsletter is reminder information about 'meet the teacher' in a couple of weeks. I have also listed the class organisation and placement of teachers. It is exciting that there are a few teachers moving to teach at different year levels; this is something that Macleans Primary supports and encourages as it is great for teacher development and growth, whilst supporting strong teaching practise across the school.
We will be changing the start date for 2025, pushing the first day of 2025 to Thursday 30 January (it was 29 January). We are needing to do this as the refurbishment for R1-R5 and R10 and R11 is starting on 14 December and scheduled to finish between 22 and 24 January. 22 to 24 January are the teacher only days, and teachers affected by the move will not be able to shift and set-up their refurbished classes in time; we are confident that an extra day will mean that what could be a rushed operation will enable teachers to do what is needed in good time to be ready to welcome the children on Thursday 30 January.
I had mentioned previously that features on the recent Epro8 semi-finals and the ICAS achievements would be in this newsletter. They will now be in the final newsletter of the year.
In the next newsletter I'll also feature the new and exciting 2025 '6 Day Timetable' which will offer a wider curriculum scope.
A reminder to order the fantastic 2024 Macleans Primary Yearbook. Limited copies available. Each year we get a few children disappointed as they have not ordered in time, so order now - details on how to order below).
We have decided to cancel the 28 November 'Meet the Teaching Teams for 2025'. We have done this because children and parents will now know their new teacher for 2025 on Tuesday 10 December (see below). We will publish the presentation for the Y1-Y3 team and Y4-Y6 team in due course. In the meantime, you can see all the teachers and teaching teams for 2025 listed below. The 'Meet The Teacher' will be earlier next year - Tuesday 4 February 2025. There will be a Y1-Y3 'Meet the Teacher' in the hall followed by a Y4-Y6 'Meet The Teacher'. Times are To Be Announced next year.
We look forward to seeing many parents, friends and families at the 'open classes' tomorrow and Friday- see details below.
Please note the final newsletter of 2024 will be in 3 weeks time; there will be regular notices sent home between now and the end of the year, and of course seesaw messages and communication from the classrooms.
Have a great week everyone and enjoy the newsletter!
Regards - Matthew Cooke

Children With Their New 2025 Teacher
This year Macleans Primary will be letting children and families know of their classes before the end of the year. Children will spend a few hours over the last day or two of the school year (12 and 13 December) with their new teacher and classmates. This will be a great way for the teachers to get to know the children, and the children to get to know their new teacher! We will communicate with you your child's new class through a note in the 2024 End of Year Summary Report card envelope that is coming home on Tuesday 10 December.
