Katy ISD is Powering Up for Back to School with PowerSchool Enrollment!
Mark your calendar for these important dates:
· Friday, July 26 – NEW student online registration reopens
· Monday, July 29 – Annual Student Update opens
All new and current Katy ISD students are required to use PowerSchool Enrollment to submit a new student registration or their annual student update.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to submit a parent inquiry through the corresponding registration email found on the Katy ISD Online Enrollment webpage.
A Note from our Nurse
Were you notified last school year that your student was due for vaccines over summer? Students must meet all vaccine requirements before the first day of school. Please email a copy of your student’s updated immunization record to AmandaBoteler@KatyISD.org
For any questions, please send me an email.
In KISD elementary schools, hearing and vision screens are routinely done for grades PK, K, 1, 3, 5, and new students entering KISD. Spinal screenings are routinely done for 5th grade girls (You can read about this here: KISD Spinal Screening Letter). Acanthosis Nigricans check is routinely done for 3rd grade students (You can read about this here: Acanthosis Nigricans). All screenings begin in the fall.
If you have any concerns about your child's vision, hearing, or concerns about curvatures in their spines, please contact me. If you do not want your child screened, you must present documentation to the campus nurse prior to September 1st as stated in the Student Handbook. If you are not contacted once screenings are complete, your child has passed the screenings. 🙂 I'm happy to help if you have any questions or concerns.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy school year!
Amanda Boteler, RN, BSN
Bell Schedule Reminder
Shool hours are 7:50 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Students can be dropped off as early as 7:25 a.m.
Student Target Time is 7:45 a.m. The purpose of Target Time is for students to arrive on school grounds by 7:45 a.m. in order to get to their classrooms and get settled by the 7:50 a.m. bell.
We will start morning announcements promptly at 7:50 a.m. so we sincerely appreciate everyone making it a priority to be early and on time.
Change of Transportation
If you need to change the way your student goes home, please send a written note to school with your child on that day. Include the student’s full name, homeroom teacher and exactly how the student will be going home. In cases of emergency, such as sudden illnesses, hospitalization, etc. (this does not include severe weather), parents may send the request via email to RAEcommunications@katyisd.org or fax (281-644-1585) to the receptionist. This request must include a parent signature and a copy of identification from the parent/guardian email we have on file. Please also call 281-237-7100 to inform the front office that the request has been sent. This communication must be received by 1:30 p.m. For safety reasons, phone calls alone will not be accepted.
