WHAT'S NEW
A Letter From Mr. Jones
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are writing to inform you about the new Georgia School Climate Survey that will be
conducted at your child's school. The survey, which will be administered on January
27. 2025. includes 73 questions. It should take students approximately 25 minutes to
complete. The survey asks about the quality of teaching and learning, the school
environment, support for students, how commonly students in the school face
challenges (such as being bullied), and student risk behaviors (such as self-harm and
substance abuse). Names cannot be tied to survey answers in any way, and students
can skip any question. The data will help leaders improve the school.
The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), 20 U.S.C. $ 1232(c) (1)(A) gives
you the right to review a copy of the student survey questions. You may request that
the school provide a copy of the survey questions for your review.
The PPRA also gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. If
you do not wish for your child to participate, please contact Mr. JR Jones, principal, at
jrjones@catoosa.k12.ga.us or call the school at 706.935.2254
Thank you for your cooperation,
JR Jones
Student Leadership Academy Serving the Community
Our 11th grade Student Leadership Academy had the opportunity to serve others. We were invited to assist Nourishing Children in Catoosa (NCIC) and the other high schools to pack snack packs. On Fridays, the snack packs are distributed to students who may need a little help with receiving nutrition over the weekends.
Tigers and Technology
Some of our students are in the CCA class that built the computers for the 911 center. WDEF Channel 12 covered the story. Take a look at the link below!
The RHS Broadcast Team is headed to state!
Jennifer Jacobs, Dominick Cothran, Lin Myers, and Will Burgess will represent Ringgold at the Skills USA State Competition at the World Conference Center in Atlanta in February. This broadcast team has earned a spot in the Video News Production state competition. This will be a FIRST for the RHS audio/video program’s history. Only 16 schools in Georgia advanced to this level, and RHS made the cut!
They are producing, writing, directing, and timing newscasts that include local, national, and international news stories. They have to understand complicated world news stories, choose the ones they consider most newsworthy, and then simplify them into 3-4 conversational sentences. Then film a live newscast, wrapping at exactly 3 minutes. Go Tigers!
JROTC To Be Honored in Atlanta
The National Champion Ringgold JROTC Color Guard will be honored at the Capitol Building in Atlanta in February during the general assembly. They will receive a proclamation that will be read before the meeting begins and get their own copy for framing.
