ROBINSON END OF YEAR UPDATE
May 25, 2020
I fully realize that my announcement to move to North Glendale was another layer of stress and unknown for staff, kids and families. If we could have adjusted the timeline in anyway, it would have been done! That being said, your warm wishes, incredible send off and warm welcome for Dr. O'Neal-Hogrefe all have meant the world to me. From the bottom of THIS Roadrunner's heart...thank you.

Shenika Bishop, who has been at Robinson for eight years is moving on to new adventures as Principal of the Soulard School. We are so excited for her!
Stephanie McVay is relocating to the great state of Texas (Mr. Peacock approves!). Stephanie has been a teacher at Robinson for eight years and we know she will make a big impact in her new school in Austin.
We welcome Dr. Amber Swopshire to Robinson! Dr. Swopshire will join our 5th grade team, coming to us from Webster Groves via Ritenour School District and St. Louis Public Schools.
Michelle Mezyk will also be joining us as a member of our Special School District team. Ms. Mezyk is coming to Robinson from North Glendale.

Supplies for 2020-2021
PTO is working with a school supply company, Bright SchoolKitz, to provide families an opportunity to purchase all of their school supplies with a click of a button. Once ordered, the supplies will be shipped directly to the student's address within 2-3 weeks. This option would allow families to purchase supplies without having to go into stores or find each item independently. We hope that you will find this service to be convenient and efficient.
Please visit the website to view supplies and prices.
How students can use their iPads this summer
First of all, I totally understand and appreciate that many of you have taken the ipads away and will hand back to your kid in August. For those of you who are keeping the iPads out, here are some ways the kids can purposefully use their technology.
● All Robinson students can continue to use MyON over the summer.
● Raz-Kids will still be available for KDG & 1st Grade.
● DreamBox is available for continued math learning through June 30.
● KSD is proud to partner with LAUNCH, a virtual course access program based in Springfield Public Schools. LAUNCH offers a range of online summer courses, including expanded K-8 options, at no cost to families or to our district.
● All students can use OverDrive, accessible through the KSD app portal, to download digital books through the Kirkwood Public Library and/or St. Louis City or County libraries library card required).
● All students can access leveled nonfiction resources like GALE, World Book Online, and GoPebble via our school library websites.
● There are a number of learning resources available through Kirkwood’s COVID-19 website,
including museum links, art project ideas, and at-home science resources.
● CODE.org offers a range of fun computer science and critical thinking links for students of all ages.
● Finally, a number of Kirkwood’s “core apps,” like iMovie, Garageband, Clips, Keynote, and Notability, offer students opportunities to learn and express themselves through play and creativity.
Changes to Grab and Go Meals
***Starting on Wednesday, May 27, Grab & Go summer meals will switch to Monday and Wednesday pickups, from 11a-1p at Nipher. The following Monday, June 1, will be the next pick up, and then again Wednesday, June 3. This will continue on this Monday & Wednesday pick up schedule through Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
In addition to our Grab & Go program, our KSD Nutrition on the Weekends (NOW) program is expanding this summer to support families in need with weekend meal support. KSD NOW Response to Summer Support will provide families with a box of food once a month:
Wednesday, June 3
Wednesday, July 8
Wednesday, August 5.
The box of food will be delivered to their home on these dates. Someone will be in touch with families on estimated arrival time on those dates. Families will also receive information on how to apply for KSD NOW for the upcoming 20-21 school year.
Please reach out to your school principal, school counselor, social worker, or classroom teacher or go to the website kirkwoodschools.org/cares to sign up. This is supported financially by donations from KSD NOW.
If you are a family who needs any type of summer food support, please fill out kirkwoodschools.org/cares.
