Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to Term 2. I trust that you all had a wonderful Easter holiday break and that you all feel well rested. When Ms Ryan and I visited classrooms yesterday to welcome the children back to school, there were a few tired children who complained of having to get up early. We know it takes a little time to get back into the routine of school, however, a regular and early bedtime helps with children’s energy levels and ability to focus and concentrate at school.
Uniform
We noticed many more children wearing our smart new school uniform. It is wonderful to see a consistent look across the school. Just a few reminders about our uniform:
- the uniform sock is a white sock. We are seeing several black and blue pairs of socks being worn. Please ensure that your child has sufficient white socks to change into a fresh pair each day.
- there is no summer and winter uniform. Children can manage the seasonal change in temperature by layering their uniform items and wearing the school tracksuit top and bottoms in cooler weather.
Please ensure that all uniform items are labelled. Clothes go missing quickly if not labelled especially when children are taking tracksuit jackets off during the day when the weather heats up. We have a two-year change over period for the new uniform. We understand that there are still items of uniform that are out of stock at our uniform supplier, Nell Grey. We have been assured by Nell Grey that they are doing everything possible to restock and will let parents know when items that you wanted to order, are restocked in store.
Strike
There has been recent coverage in the news about the government school teachers’ strike on Tuesday next week. Our Catholic Education Western Australia system is not impacted by this strike, so there will be no disruption to your child’s school day.
Government Cost of Living Payment for Primary School Students
To claim this payment, you will need your child’s student number. Please email admin@olom.wa.edu.au with the subject line Student Number and our front office will email your child’s student number so that you can claim this payment.
We trust that in partnership with you this term, we will achieve great outcomes so that all children in our school can flourish with our Christ-centered and Child-focused approach to education.
God bless you all.
