This is an opportunity to become a certified Constructing Meaning leader through attending the EL Achieve Summer Leadership Seminar. In addition to deepening your own understanding of CM principles, certified CM leaders are able to support colleagues on site in implementing CM practices. They are also eligible to be apprentice presenters for the Secondary CM Institute, the high quality Secondary Constructing Meaning professional development that you participated in.

• Earn Constructing Meaning Leader Certification through EL Achieve
• Become eligible to be a CM Apprentice Presenter
• Deepen your CM skills to apply in your classroom
• Promote instructional strategies to support language development for all students at your site and across the district
• Earn a stipend

Required Components:

During summer 2019 and the 2019-2020 school year:

• Attend and complete the requirements of the CM Summer Leadership Seminar (dates and details below)
• Plan and present one professional development session at a school site or the district office (staff meeting, afternoon PD session, all-staff PD day, etc.)
• Lead colleagues in a lesson study cycle at site, including model lessons, debrief, and guided planning time.

Optional Component:

• Upon completion of Summer Leadership Seminar, participants will be eligible to become a CM apprentice presenter.

Application Requirements:

• Complete and submit short application below.
• Two to three applicants will be selected for each school site.
• Applicants must have completed the initial Secondary CM Institute by June 2019.

Teachers will receive a stipend of $2250 upon completion of required components. Apprentice presenters will receive an additional stipend of $1250, paid upon completion of apprenticeship, and will have future opportunities for stipended or extra hours pay. Substitute release time will be provided for Secondary CM Institute presentation days. Additional time sheet hours will be available for additional optional work.
