Respectful Language
Over the last few weeks, Mr. Roell and Mrs. Geldnich have met and talked with each 5th and 6th grade house in the building about respectful language. That category is one of our highest for office discipline referrals. We talked about the importance of using kind and polite language. We also emphasized the old adage, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. We appreciate your help in supporting your student's use of respectful language.
Silverbrook Read-a-thon

All pledge money needs to be returned to your child's teacher if it hasn't already been done.

Musical Auditions for MOANA
MOANA AUDITION INFORMATION:
When: December 9th & 10th in the Badger Middle school choir room.

Possible Callbacks on December 11th.
Process: Students will be asked to sing in a group (see song labeled everyone) as well as sing individually (see song appropriate to their respective gender voicing). Students will also participate in a reading of lines to gauge their acting ability and finish off the process with a dancing section to access their movements.
Performance dates are set for March 13th - 16th 2025 with rehearsals beginning in January 2025.
There are instructions explaining things within the google drive which can be accessed using the QR code on the audition poster.. Please see the attached poster for further information and materials regarding this audition opportunity.
Deaf/Hard of Hearing Trivia Game
It’s trivia time! Throughout the month of December, the information students have been learning about Deaf/Hard of Hearing celebrities and sign language will be put together into a trivia game! Every day, morning meeting teachers will display a Google Form with a trivia question. Each class will decide on their collaborative answer and submit it. At the end of the month, the class in each house with the most correct answers will win a prize (to be awarded upon return from break)! If there is more than one class with the same amount of correct answers, there will be a random drawing to select the winning class.
Lost and found
Please take a minute to view our lost and found. If you see anything that belongs to your child, have them pick it up. You may also stop by before (7:30-7:45am) or after school (3:05-3:30pm) to view our lost and found.
15 Days of Holiday Fun!
The month of December is loaded with opportunities for you child to participate in various holiday activities. Please see attached calendar.
Second Step
Week of 12/9/2024
5th Grade
Lesson: What’s the Problem?
Summary: In this lesson, your child will use empathy to identify problems in their school community and think about how these problems might affect other people. This is an important first step toward making positive change in the community.
Try This at Home: Ask your child what problems they see in your neighborhood that affect other people. Point out how empathy helped them notice those problems.
6th Grade:
Lesson: What Works Best for You?
Summary: In this week’s lesson, your child will practice choosing an emotion-management strategy that works best for them in a given setting. They’ll look at several different settings and pick a strategy they think will work for them.
