Arrival & Dimissal Procedures
Arrival: Students are expected to arrive at school between 7:15 AM and 7:30 AM. Children who walk to school or ride in private cars should not arrive at school before 7:15 AM, as supervision is not available. Students are considered tardy after 7:40 AM. Students should be in their seats and ready to learn by 7:30 AM. Parents are expected to follow the direction of the staff members when dropping off students for school. Cars may not be left unattended. Students are expected to enter the school independently. Parents are expected to demonstrate patience and cooperation during arrival. Please review the Arrival and Dismissal Procedures.
Dismissal: Afternoon announcements begin at 1:35 PM. At 1:40 PM, dismissal of walkers begins. Following walkers, car riders and parent pick-ups will be dismissed. After this, bus rider dismissal will begin. Buses will be called in the order that they arrive; students are expected to listen for their bus number/color so that they do not miss their bus.
If a child is to be dismissed to a different location, parents must send a note indicating the date and the change to take place. A child may not visit another child’s home after school or be transported by a person not in your family without prior parental approval. This rule is for all children’s safety. If a student does not bring a note to school, we will insist that he/she follows the normal dismissal routine. Once a student has boarded the bus, the student will not be removed from the bus. If you do not wish for your child to ride the bus on a particular day, a note or phone call must be received by 12:45 PM. Again, this regulation is for all children’s safety. Please review the Arrival and Dismissal Procedures.
Dismissal Expectations
Gather all materials and belongings that must be taken home. Students may not return to the room after dismissal.
Walk quietly, in a single line, during dismissal. Stay to the right of the hallway.
Go directly home—not to a friend’s house.
Our Theme this Year: EmPOWERing Students to SOAR to Excellence
Our theme this year is all about giving our students the tools, confidence, and support they need to succeed in school and beyond. When we say we are "EmPowering Students to SOAR to Excellence," we mean that we are focused on helping every child reach their highest potential by:
- Empowering them with knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the future.
- Supporting them in building self-confidence and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Creating a positive environment where they feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.
The superhero theme reminds our Falcons that they have the power to achieve greatness EVERY DAY at Oaklands!
Synergy ParentVUE
Synergy is PGCPS' new Student Information System. It is important that families activate their ParentVUE account. This will allow parents to view student schedules, attendance, and grades.
