College & Career Center Updates
College Field Trip: Get your Fall 2024 schedules early by attending an upcoming field trip to Cañada College (05/07/24, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM). Download the electronic copy of the permission forms. Turn in the signed copy to C-1 by Monday, 5/6/24.
Financial Aid: Community college students can still submit a 2024-2025 CADAA or FAFSA to qualify for the Promise Scholar Program at our local community colleges.
Complete this form by 6/04/24 to participate in graduation ceremony
2nd Semester Grades: Acceptances to 4-year colleges are conditional; they can be cancelled if your final transcript reveals: grade(s) below a C; a lower overall GPA compared to the GPA provided with your application; and/or dropped classes. Contact your college's admissions office if you are concerned about a class now.
Final Transcript (with graduation date): Request your final transcript in the exit survey that will be administered when we visit your Social Studies classes this month.
Scholarships: Check your college account for financial aid award letters. Apply for scholarships or appeal for more aid. Most of the scholarships listed in this newsletter have been won by Woodside seniors.

Cañada College Field Trip

RSVP to Canada's 5/07/24 event & return your field trip permission form to your counselor in C-1 by 05/06/24 to reserve your spot and register for your Fall 2024 classes. Bring your WHS transcript and a picture ID to the field trip. Lunch will be provided!
Other Community College Events
Is Your Community College Class Required for Graduation?
If the answer is yes, you must submit your final grades by 06/04/24 to be cleared for graduation.
Cañada College: After you complete the top portion of this form with the WHS Counseling Office address and your counselor's email address, send it to your professor so that your final grade can be returned to your school counselor. Email the form between 5/20-5/24/24
CSM: Email your professor (cc your school counselor) to confirm your final grade in the class.
Skyline College: Ask your instructor to email Skyline's registrar (Niruba Srinivasan) to confirm your grade. Include your G#, Spring 2024 term, Course Name, & CRN# in your message.
Check in with your college advisor if you need help with this step.
WHS Scholarships
Drama Boosters
WHS seniors who have participated in WHS drama production(s) during their high school career and have plans to attend a 2 or 4-year college should submit their completed Drama Boosters 2023 Senior Scholarship application to zmatavulj@seq.org by 05/10/24.
Athletic Boosters
WHS seniors are eligible to apply for this scholarship if they meet the following criteria: WHS enrollment for at least 1 full year; cumulative GPA of 3.0+; one varsity letter earned during senior year; and a complete application with a coach's recommendation. The complete ABO Scholarship application must be submitted to D9 at the end of the school day on 5/10/24.
WHS 8 Condition Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all WHS seniors who have demonstrated one of the 8 conditions during their time at Woodside. Complete this form by 05/17/24.
George Ward Drama Scholarship
Future Teachers: Dick Storm Memorial Scholarship
In memory of Mr. Storm, a beloved Woodside High School math teacher, this scholarship opportunity is available to a senior who plans to become a K-12 teacher. Applicants must be US citizens and complete this application by 05/13/2024.
WHS PTSA Senior Scholarship Award
The PTSA Senior Scholarship Award may be used for any higher education expense following graduation from WHS. Any senior who is graduating from WHS in 2024 and who will be attending an accredited 2- or 4-year college in Fall 2024 is eligible to apply. Applications must be received by Sunday, May 19,2024 by 11:59pm.

SDTA Scholarship
SUHSD and children of SUHSD teachers graduating by August 2024 can apply for this scholarship. Submit your application by 05/14/24.
Koloszi Scholarship: Seniors Planning to Attend UC
SUHSD seniors who will be attending a UC campus in the fall can apply for this scholarship of $2,000-$5,000. The completed application must arrive via email or USPS by 5 PM, 05/24/24.Transcript(s), essay, letter of recommendation, and 24-25 CADAA/FAFSA summary page with Student Aid Inde (SAI).
Catalino Tapia Scholarship: 1st Generation College Students
Other eligibility criteria: low-income student; min. GPA of 2.5; physically reside and attend an educational institution within San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, or Santa Clara counties; ability to participate in activities and complete 10 hours of volunteer service. Awards range from $2,500-$3,000, with a $250 stipend for supplies. If a scholar's parents are gardeners/landscapers, field workers, janitors, or housekeepers, the scholar may receive an additional $1,000. The CTSF application is due 05/17/24.

Kids' Chance of CA Scholarship: Due 05/15/24
Kids' Chance of California is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide need-based educational scholarships to the children of California workers who have been fatally or seriously injured on the job.
Elks Vocational Training Scholarship
EL Seniors: $2,000 Scholarship
Seniors who have ever been enrolled as an English Language Learner during their K-12 education and have plans to attend a 2 or 4yr college can apply by 5/12/24 @ 1 PM.
Heritage Scholarships
Basque Culture Scholarship
Seniors planning to attend college in the fall are eligible to submit an original work of visual, performing, or literary art that expresses the impact of food on Basque culture. Intent to submit is due by 6/30/24; the submission is due on 7/31/24.
Internships & Jobs
Teacher's Aide: $40/hr
Juniors and seniors with 1y+ experience with preschool and elementary-aged students, collaboration & communication skills are encouraged to apply for this part-time (T-Sa) position in Redwood City by sending your resume to lily@growingiq.com.
Rock Band Summer Camp Counselor: $800/wk
Counselors should be musicians who are able to create easy arrangements of songs; know how to teach beginner piano, guitar, vocals, and drums; and be excited about working with children! Camp runs all summer in San Carlos, with weekly sessions Monday-Friday 9am-3pm. Work any weeks you're available. Health Ambassador Program-Youth
Learn about mental health & wellness over a 14-week program. Students who successfully complete the program can earn a bonus of $700.

Seniors with a current driver's license can begin the application process if they are scheduled to graduate on 6/7/24.
CalKIDS: College/Career Training Fund
$500 for College?
The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) gives children in California a jump start on saving for college or career training. To be eligible for CalKIDS, participants must be:
Born in California on or after July 1, 2022; or
An eligible low-income public school student in grades 1-12* in California.
All participants receive a seed deposit in a CalKIDS account to help pay for future education after high school. Create your account with your SSID, located in the upper left corner of your transcript.
