From the Principal
Dear Steele families,
It was great to see so many of you at our Halloween parade and class parties yesterday! Our students and staff had a great day and enjoyed sharing it with you.
Today is the last day to complete the DPS Your Voice/ Tu Voz survey. This survey is your opportunity to share what you love about Steele as well as what we can do to improve your experience. Steele’s CSC will review the results of the survey to determine our next steps. We realize it’s survey season and DPS has asked a lot of you lately, but your time on this survey will be greatly appreciated.

School News
Today is the last day to complete the DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” survey
WHAT?
- The “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Family Survey is designed to measure the extent to which Denver Public Schools is helping parents and guardians feel welcomed, involved, and informed. Your input will help us learn how to better support you so that you can best support the academic success of your student(s).
- Questionstake approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.
- All responses are anonymous and confidential.
WHY?
- At the school level, your input helps principals, teachers, and school staff understand what is working well and what needs to be addressed to improve our schools. At the district level, your feedback helps evaluate the performance of DPS leadership. Your voice matters greatly.
WHO?
- If you are the parent or guardian of a DPS student, we want to hear from you.
Last year, only 22% of DPS families shared feedback. We want to hear from everyone! Your feedback is important to helping the district understand how to best serve each student.
Our goal is to get to 35% family participation by 2025.
WHEN?
The survey is available online through Nov. 1 and can be completed at any time, day or night.
The Your Voice/Tu Voz Family survey is currently offered once per school year. DPS teams will have additional surveys on other topics throughout the year.
HOW?
There are three ways to access the survey:
Click on the URL.
Scan the QR code with the camera on your smartphone.
Type the URL into your internet browser: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/3hYhCO.
Update from the PTA Treasurer
The PTA has a goal to raise $300,000 for the year. $250,000 of that goes directly to the school to fund things like second educator staffing, staffing of our specials programs, and anything else the school needs that is out of the budget. The remaining $50,000 goes to teacher classroom budgets, field day, the art show, music programming, community movie night, and other social events.
As you can see we have a long way to go for our goal this year. Our biggest fundraiser is the auction - coming up on November 9th. Please get your tickets and purchase items as it is this funding that helps make Steele such a great place!
Student Council Update
A huge round of applause to the more than 50 students who decided to run for student council. Today we held the primary election. Ms. Durling will count the votes this weekend. The three candidates in each category with the most votes will advance to the general election. In order to give the candidates time to process the results with their family before it is announced at school, Ms. Durling will email ALL candidates on Sunday by 2:00pm with the list of students who are advancing. No matter the results, students should feel proud of themselves for being willing to take a risk, try something new, and give it their best shot. Students can access their email through their Chromebook. They can also access their DPS Google account by going to gmail.com and logging in with their DPS account (user name is their student id/lunch number and password is their birthday mmddyyyy).
Lunchroom Updates
DPS has started an A La Carte program for students. This means that students can purchase additional items with their lunch. To do this, students must have money in their My School Bucks account. Steele is working to get a list of items being sold as well as their ingredients. We will keep families informed once we receive this information.
Here is what we have received from DPS:
A la Carte Program
We believe that all foods fit into a balanced diet and strive to offer a diverse range of menu and a la carte options. All items are Smart Snack approved and align with the DPS Wellness policy.
