Families enjoyed a shared meal while learning about the art of storytelling from EIPS Cultural Consultant Leaha Atcheynum and creating story rocks with Métis knowledge carrier Connie Kulhavy. The event celebrated the rich traditions of Indigenous winter storytelling, fostering community with First Nations, Métis and Inuit families and their allies. Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to this wonderful gathering!
Curriculum Highlights
February 13th Land Acknowledgment PL Session
EIPS staff are invited to join for professional learning with our First Nations, Métis and Inuit Team to deepen understanding of land acknowledgments. Language Updates
Northern Michif lessons at Fort Saskatchewan Elementary
Elder SkyBlue Mary Morin, a respected knowledge carrier and language expert, recently led a series of in-person Northern Michif lessons at Fort Saskatchewan Elementary. With her deep understanding of Métis culture and language, she guided students and teachers through the rich history and unique linguistic aspects of Northern Michif, a vibrant blend of Cree and French. The lessons, held in an engaging and interactive format, enabled students to connect with the language in a meaningful way while learning about Métis traditions and worldviews.
