5th graders had a chance to apply to be part of Pleasantville's Big PLV (student council). Applications were due Friday, Jan 10th. Mrs. Velasquez, Mrs. Munson and Ms. Griffith will be reviewing applications next week. Students who are a part of the Big PLV will be student leaders who will have leadership roles throughout the building and meet to discuss ways to improve students' experience here at PLV. Students will have to keep up their grades, classroom responsiblities and make sure they are always following our Polar Pride expectations. We will announce the new Big PLV at the end of next week.
January 13th is the end of the 1st semester. Families (Guardians 1 and 2) should have received an email around November 15th with directions on accessing their child's Progress Book account. For families who have blocked our emails or do not have email addresses on file, a hard copy was sent home via the US Postal Service. To update any information, use this link. We will have 2nd semester conferences on March 27th & 28th.
For updates on inclement weather, please follow Colonial School District on social media and check the distict's website. ** Reminder to Walkers: There is NO SUPERVISION for your student in the morning until we open the doors at 8:45. We have seen students at school by 8:15..that is WAY TOO EARLY!! We have students running, throwing the football and more. Students must stand behind the orange grade-level cones. We need everyone to be safe. In addition, with the weather getting colder, students will not be permitted to enter the building until 8:45. Please have them dress accordingly.
**Car Riders: We have noticed that cars are arriving at 9:00 or later. We close the Car Rider doors at 9:00 AM. If they arrive after 9:00, you MUST come inside and sign them in using the QR code.
**Safe Shoes Reminder: It is important that your child wears proper safe shoes to school. Shoes should be worn that have a closed toe and heel. Crocs, flip flops, sandals, slippers should not be worn. Wearing these kind of shoes is not safe for gym class or playing on the recess equipment and playing soccer, basketball, etc.
**Early Dismissal Reminder: NO STUDENT DISMISSAL CHANGES will be made after 3:00 PM. If you call/email/dojo message after 3:00 PM, your child will go home his/her usual way (bus, daycare, walker, car rider) These changes interfere with teacher instruction and student learning.
Kind Regards & Stay Well,
Ms. Renee M. Griffith - Principal

Why Should My Child Be Signed Up for PLV's Nemours' Wellness Center?
Quotes from PLV Families:
“As a single working mom, I find the wellness center to be a lifesaver. Not only do my children get the benefit of amazing top notch care, but it also saves them from missing hours or a day from school and me from missing the same amount of time from work. They make sure to keep you updated on what is going on, but they supply paperwork for you to keep your PCP up to date. If medication is needed, they submit the script to your preferred pharmacy. It is always fast, friendly and complete care for my kids.”
- Parent of a second grader and kindergartener.
"I love the Wellness Center. Not only is it convenient but the ladies are awesome! We’ve had some anxiety with doctors in the past but they are very understanding and patient which makes him more comfortable. Plus access to the portal makes connecting with them a breeze!"
-Parent of a first grader
Nemours Wellness Center
PLV's School-based Heath Center is taking new enrollment for SY24-25.
A school-based health center (SBHC) is a medical office located inside your child's school. Nurse practitioners and behavioral health therapists offer well-child visits, sick visits, vaccinations, and mental health care to students. Your child can get free, high-quality care, that's safe and convenient.
How much does a visit cost?
If your child doesn't have insurance, their care is free. If your child has insurance, the school-based health center will file a claim directly. (Note: No co-pay, co-insurance or deductible will be charged to you).
Who runs the SBHC?
Your child's school-based health center is a partnership between their school district, Nemours Children’s Health and the Delaware Division of Public Health. These three organizations work together to run the center.

Admin and support staff (Nurse, SEC, Counselor, etc) will also be linked to their homeroom pages.
