HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope everyone had a wonderful break. We are excited to be back as we enter our 3rd marking period for this school year. Please review our monthly information and reminders below.

Morning Carpool is from 7:50am - 8:15am. Students who arrive after 8:15 will have to be signed in by an adult in the front office.

Breakfast is over at 8:10 daily

Please make sure that students are arriving to school on time each day.

Early pick up ends at 2:00pm

Afternoon carpool is from 3:00- 3:40pm.

Pre-K - 3rd is 3:00 - 3:20

4th - 8th is 3:20 - 3:40 If you have older siblings please wait for their dismissal time, or prepare to circle around the carpool line to pick them up.

Please make sure that you have your yellow car tag placed in your windshield during pick up for verification purposes.

If your student is going home a different way than usual, please send in a note to the teacher or call the front office before 1:45pm

January 3rd - Students return to school.

January 12th - Staff and Student dress down for PTA fundraiser. The cost is $1.00 per Student.

January 15th - No School/MLK Day

January 17th - 5th Grade Parent meeting. Time is TBD

January 17th - Kona Ice is coming. Look for information from your students teacher.

January 18th - 100th day of school! Students may dress up like they are 100 years old. (no cost & optional)

January 24th - Papa Johns spirit night. Flyers will be sent home

January 25th - Milestones Workshop for parents/guardians. Time is TBD

January 26th - Staff and Student dress down for PTA fundraiser. $1.00

January 27th - Student Expo at the Civic Center. 10:00am - 3:00pm

As it gets colder, please remember to send weather appropriate sweaters and jackets to school with your students. Here is a reminder that solid colored sweaters, vests, or sweatshirts may be worn over uniform shirts (no print/logos). HOODED SWEATSHIRTS "HOODY" ARE NOT ALLOWED and students will be asked to take them off in the building. All hats, hoods of jackets must be taken off while entering the building.

Tights, leggings hose, or socks may be worn under an appropriate length skirt or dress (no shorter than three inches above the knee). Tights and socks must be solid navy, black or white with no design. Hose without design may be worn. Tights or leggings may not be worn as an outer garment.

All shoes must be enclosed and fastened/tied properly. No crocs

All book bags, tote bags, backpacks, athletic bags and all other similar items must have the contents clearly visible (see-through clear plastic or mesh).

Please NOTE: Security Screening Procedures

Savannah-Chatham County Public School Approved Bags and Procedures will include:

• Metal detectors and/or handheld wands
• Bag Inspection
• Enforcement of Clear Bag Requirements

**No weapons, tobacco, vapes, or sharp objects**

All persons and packages are subject to search upon entry. Failure to consent or submit will result in denial of entry.

"Did you know? Only five days of absences per school year will be excused with a parent note. After your parent notes have been used, an excused absence requires a physician’s or a hospital’s statement, court subpoena, order of governmental agencies, funeral notice, or obituary. Students who accumulate more than ten unexcused absences will be considered truant."

What do the new K-12 mathematics standards mean for you and your child? The new standards are more age- and developmentally appropriate, meaning concepts are introduced when your child is ready and prepared to learn them. They focus on the fundamental skills students need to prepare for the future, and the amount of content included is more balanced – meaning there is time to teach, and standards don’t have to be rushed to get everything covered. Teachers will have time to be trained on the new standards and receive new instructional resources, but the flexibility to learn without required “new math” methods and use traditional math methods is available now.
