PRIDE Under Construction - Week #13 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
We are so grateful to have completed another productive week at SDE with the highlight being our PRIDE Buddies Camp Adventure Day #2! The featured theme for this camp’s session was TEAMWORK, and all mentors and mentees focused on learning what teamwork actually is and what it looks like in various settings beyond the classroom. We even had some buddy teams to take field trips to Kroger, Southern Pines, and local restaurants to see teamwork in action and participate in a variety of team building activities. PRIDE Buddies is the official mentor program of SDE in which EVERY student is paired with a staff member to establish meaningful, trusting, and long-standing relationships through focusing on the whole child and developing basic life skills. Through this partnership, all stakeholders are working to achieve our goal of high achievement and success for all students! Be sure to check out some of the pictures from the camp day below!
This week in the “Instruction Zone”, we encourage you to be on the lookout for your child’s 2nd Nine Weeks Progress Report which should be sent home on this Thursday. Please review the progress report thoroughly, and be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions or concerns. Also, please pay special attention to your child's attendance and early dismissals/tardies on the report. Finally, we will celebrate all Veterans throughout this week during classroom activities and discussions leading up to our annual Veterans Day Program on this Friday beginning at 9:00 am in the gymnasium. All stakeholders are invited to attend. All students have been asked to wear a red, blue, or white top with their regular uniform bottoms on this Friday.

WHO ARE WE??....
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
