May is here! We are officially in the last month of school. Now is the time to narrow our focus and make sure that our students are doing their best. Testing season can be stressful. Please, support your student by ensuring they are aware of their testing schedule, getting enough rest, and intaking the proper nutrition. We want to see all of our students succeed and assessment is just one piece of that puzzle. Please assist us with reminding our students to make the appropriate choices to close out the year.

As our extracurricular activities are winding down for the year, I want to thank all involved. Our clubs, art programs, JROTC, athletics, and other organizations have done a great job this year. Thank you to the families who support and encourage our students in their involvement at FHS. We could not do it without you and all the hard work from our sponsors and students.

Graduation and award ceremonies are upon us. Congratulations in advance to all receiving those accolades and recognitions.

There are Summer School options for students. Please reach out if you have questions about eligibility for the Summer programs.

If you need to attend summer school to earn back credits, please contact your school counselor to get signed up. Summer school runs from June 1st to July 13th. Breakfast and lunch will be included free of charge.

All seniors need to complete a senior exit survey and turn it into Mrs. Chapman in the Guidance office before Graduation Day. This is how your final transcripts will be sent out after you graduate. If you do not complete this form, transcripts will not be sent.

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and this application allows you to apply for financial aid for college. It is very important that you complete it so you do not miss out on scholarships, grants, or work study opportunities. This application is to be filled out by parent and student. Please make sure you go to the correct website www.fafsa.gov and not .com. You should never be paying anyone to fill out this free application. FAFSA opens on October 1st. The earlier it is filled out, the more financial assistance opportunities will be available to you. Check with each college that you are applying to on when their FAFSA deadline is so you can make sure you get the financial assistance you need. You may go ahead and sign up for your FSA ID (which is like your FAFSA username) now as that will help cut down on process time later. You may do this by clicking on the button below!

Seniors need to submit the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) by August 31st of their senior year in order to qualify for any state financial aid. The application opens up on October 1st and can be found at floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org. A button to take you directly to the website is located below. The most well known scholarship attached to this application is the Bright Futures Scholarship. Your student will not earn the Bright Futures Scholarship if this application is not completed.
