The Yakima School District is thrilled to announce that, effective July 1, 2024, Craig Smith will assume the role of Principal at Nob Hill Elementary School, pending approval by the school board.
A proud Yakima native and Davis High School alumnus, Craig pursued higher education at Eastern Washington University, where he obtained his undergraduate degree. His journey into education began after a successful stint in local business, leading him to earn his Master's in Teaching from Heritage University. Craig's commitment to education deepened as he taught 5th grade at Adams Elementary School, furthering his expertise with a Certification in Educational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
For the past four years, Craig has served as the Assistant Principal at Nob Hill Elementary. His leadership has been instrumental in lifting the school out of improvement status, a testament to the collective dedication of the Nob Hill staff to meet the diverse needs of their students. Craig's philosophy centers on fostering meaningful relationships with staff, students, and families, believing that these partnerships are key to creating an empowering, supportive, and engaging educational environment.
Craig's personal life is deeply intertwined with the Yakima School District, as his wife, Erin, teaches health and fitness at Davis High School. Together, they have children who are active in sports, keeping the family engaged in local sporting events, hiking, and mountain biking. Craig looks forward to continuing his service to the Nob Hill community, striving for excellence in every endeavor.
