MARTY'S MINUTE
I am excited to announce that our spring student music performances will begin next week, with our Stevens Middle School kicking-off these performances next Tuesday, May 21. As you know, our district boasts one of the state's oldest and most robust music programs, highlighting our commitment to the arts. Studies show that students exposed to arts and music education often perform better academically and have better outcomes after graduation. Music education is vital for fostering creativity and grit in our students. Please attend these concerts to support our young musicians and show our collective commitment to music education.
We also have the privilege again of hosting the JFFA Kidsfest on Friday, May 24th, in the PAHS auditorium. With the generous support of the Port Angeles Education Foundation, our district, volunteers, and artist grants, JFFA Kidsfest brings world-class performances to our K-12 students, enhancing their educational experience. This event, featuring three school performances, exposes many of our students for the first time to the world of music and the performing arts. Our ongoing partnership with JFFA & PAEF is a testament to our community's commitment to our youth and their development as well-rounded individuals. Your presence at these events means a lot to our students. Let’s celebrate and support their talents together.
I would also like to take time to congratulate our district for receiving, for the third year in a row, the Best Communities for Music Education Award. This award program recognizes and celebrates outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education.
