Last week during the lunch periods, West Leyden's classes engaged in an intense battle of... Penny War! Points were ADDED to your class points when pennies and dollar bills were collected in your class jar, but points were SUBTRACTED when nickels, dimes, and quarters were collected in your class jar. After much strategizing, the JUNIOR class reigned supreme! The juniors will earn an additional 500 points for Junior Olympics 2024! But the true winners are Leyden Township and Leyden Family Services, as they will receive 100% of the proceeds. StuCo thanks you all for your generosity.

The holiday season is fast upon us. December is typically a month you celebrate your families, express your gratitude, and give to others in association with cultural and religious beliefs. However, regardless of what religion you practice or belief you hold, December is also recognized as the Universal Month for Human Rights.

It's hard to believe that we're a few short weeks away from the end of first semester! Stop by the Commons on Wednesday, December 13th, between 2:45 pm - 3:30 pm to meet up with friends, destress, and unwind. You'll receive a FREE wooden cutout of a word to live by, and you'll get to paint it while sipping on some yummy hot chocolate!

Sign up as an individual or, if you're a club sponsor or sports coach, you can sign up your entire group! No need to come up with an end-of-semester party activity! Please complete this form by the end of the day TODAY, Monday, December 11th, to ensure enough supplies for everyone.

On Thursday, December 14th, Student Council will be hosting our winter blood drive in the Eagle's Wing. The health benefits and community needs make this a tough service project to beat. Students can start registering for an appointment online now! Students can also get help registering online during lunch periods the week of December 11th. Upperclassmen should consider donating. Students must be 16 or older and weigh at least 110 lbs. Anyone 18 or older may donate as a "walk-in". Staff members do NOT need an appointment and will be moved immediately to the front of the line. Thank you in advance for your donation - it may just save a life!

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is a business and technology student organization that helps students transition to the business world. It is a great way to network with other business-minded students. FBLA members select a competitive event that is worked on throughout the year, and then they compete at a regional, state and national level each year.

On Friday, December 15th, FBLA will be selling bags of Famous Amos cookies in classrooms and hallways to raise money to help pay for meals when they travel to competitions. Be sure to support FBLA by buying a bag of cookies on Friday!

Indulge in the holiday spirit with Fashion Club's festive treat! Join us on Friday, December 15th, during your lunch period to snag Candy Cane Grams for just $1 each. Don't miss out on the chance to make someone's day merry and bright!

Spread joy to your friends by letting them know you are thinking of them by sending them a Candy Cane Gram! Candy Cane Grams will be handed out during advisory next Monday and Tuesday, ensuring a sweet start to the week. Embrace the season of giving and share the sweetness with Fashion Club! 🌟🍭
