KEY GUIDELINES TO KEEP EVERYONE HEALTHY
We are currently experiencing a surge in stomach-related illnesses, strep throat, and flu-like symptoms in our school community. To prevent the spread and protect everyone’s health, it is critical that families keep unwell students at home.
See the CVSD Guidelines here: When should I keep my child home?
CCS Community,
Today, we held our first all-school assembly of the new year, led by a courageous group of 4th graders. Their leadership was especially impressive given that they missed an extra day of rehearsal due to our first snow day of the year. We began by recognizing that challenge and giving them a well-deserved round of applause.
Our 4th-grade leaders guided us through learning connected to Black History Month, shared pieces of their personal identities through poetry inspired by George Ella Lyon’s Where I’m From, and brought us together with a game to close our time. It was a joy to see our entire school community—kindergartners to 8th graders—fully engaged and learning together. Moments like these remind us of the strength and connection across nine grades in one school.
As we move further into February, we approach important local democratic processes, including voting on the CVSD Budget. Ballots are now available at the Town Office, and Town Meeting Day voting takes place on Tuesday, March 4. Due to the calendar this year, that date coincides with an extended break for many CVSD families—March 3 is a faculty conference day, and March 4 is a professional development day for staff. We’ll return to school on Wednesday, March 5.
With this unique schedule, I encourage you to please make a plan to vote on or before Tuesday, March 4. School budgets are often central to discussions about how we support our children and the challenging balance between opportunities and costs. To learn more about this year’s CVSD Budget, please visit the CVSD Budget Webpage.
Thank you for being part of our school community and for your ongoing support.
Warmly,
Tim O’Leary, CCS Principal
2025 - 2026 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Charlotte Central School Kindergarten Registration for 2025-2026 will open on Monday, February 3, 2025. Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is asking families to register their incoming Kindergarten students earlier this year in an effort to get more accurate enrollment numbers for our schools.
If you have an incoming Kindergarten student, that will be five before the CVSD September 1st deadline, please complete the online forms by Friday, February 21, 2025. These enrollment numbers help us to plan our staffing needs for the upcoming school year and help us to coordinate our site visits for placement in the Spring.
If your child is already a part of CVSD schools (Act166 Partner Preschool program), please contact Naomi Strada, CCS Registrar. Naomi is looking forward to hearing from you! You can contact Naomi at (802) 425-6600 or nstrada@cvsdvt.org. She will be happy to help with questions and ensure that your child is on the CCS 25-26 kindergarten list.
We really appreciate your help with registering your child early this year and we’re looking forward to meeting you. This is such an exciting time for you and your child and we are happy to share this experience with you!
6TH - 8TH GRADE FAMILIES
CCS does not have a softball team, but if your daughter plays softball and wants to be on a team, Shelburne Community School can host any girl who wants to play. Please email Nicky Elderton nelderton@cvsdvt.org if you are interested.
The CCS Student Council will be sharing their monthly newspaper, CCS Press, for the community's enjoyment. Check back here monthly for their new editions.
