Principal's Message - Mrs. Alfonso
Please be ON TIME.
Every minute counts in the classroom.
As a parent or guardian you can help by:
- ensuring your child understands the importance of excellent attendance and punctuality
- taking an interest in their education – asking about school work and encourage them to get involved in school activities
- discussing any problems they may have at school and inform their teacher
- not allowing them take time off school for minor ailments – particularly those which would not prevent you from going to work
- arranging appointments after school hours, at weekends or during school holidays will help to prevent disruption to your child’s education and to the school
- being open and willing to work with us to improve your child’s attendance

During the month of February, we are focusing on Kindness & Equality! We will be focusing on honoring Black History Month through our SEL theme!
This week is National School Counseling Week!!!
School counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. They lead, advocate and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the school’s academic mission and school improvement plan.
As a school counselor, I find it very beneficial to work closely with staff and parents as well!! Thank you for helping us work as a team!
Feel free to contact me at any time throughout the year: dfaga@gboe.org

Attendance Matters
Important Information
We are working on improving our overall attendance at James Madison School. Please avoid taking vacations during the school year. If you want to travel, plan around the days/weeks we have off. Each day your child is not here, they are losing academic learning. Make-up work is not the same as in school learning. We are looking forward to working together to give every child a great education.
