February 2025
Superintendent's Message
Greetings Lakeland Families! February has ended and we are closing in on springtime! The school year is flying by. Our kids are growing… I love getting to visit our schools and interact with our students. We have AMAZING kids who are so polite and engaging. Thank you for sharing them with us.
This edition of the Lakeland Highlights has information related to the upcoming levy. We have 5 Town Hall meetings scheduled throughout the district. I hope you are able to attend at least one. There will be a short presentation (7 - 10 minutes) and the rest of the time is provided to answer whatever questions you may have. I believe board members are working to attend these as well. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to interact with them.
We need some assistance related to students safely crossing our highways and using the crosswalks. Before and after school in Rathdrum near Lakeland High School and Lakeland Middle School, we have had crossing guards hit by cars because people drive through the crosswalks while people are there. It is very important that students are not on their phones while crossing to ensure they are watching cars and are aware of their surroundings. They also need to wait until the crossing guards indicate that it is safe to cross. If cars are at the crosswalk when the flashing lights begin, they typically will go through the crosswalk rather than slamming on their brakes. Students think that once the lights are on they are safe. That is not always the case. Outside of times when the crossing guards are assisting, please be sure your students know to push the button to turn on the flashing lights and then wait to make sure cars stop before crossing. There are so many people living in our communities now. Our roads are very busy and we want to make sure our kids are safe. I appreciate your help!
March 27th is the last day of school before spring break. I hope you have an incredible March! Spring is on its way. 🙂
Warm Regards,
Lisa Arnold

The Lakeland Facilities crew has been diligently working to clear 10 acres of district-owned property in Athol, which had become overrun with weeds and debris. Additionally, they have been trimming the trees near THS on the corner as you approach from Highway 54. That area was so overgrown, it was impossible to see the school from the highway! A big thank you to our Facilities team for their hard work and to Mother Nature for providing the perfect weather to make these projects possible!

If you are unable to attend, you will at least be able to listen to the discussion via the video link for the month. We appreciate your partnership! Thank you for sharing your children with us! We will be sharing the running agenda/minutes here. We were not able to post a video for the last meeting due to technical difficulties.
